It just hit me..May 5th is Cinco De Mayo..and it is when I have planned to land in Cancun! After seeing pics of the streets of Playa at Easter, I am wondering how congested and crowded the Roo on this holiday?

Same here, lol... I'm going the same day and then later realized it was Cinco de Mayo - doh! Well, I guess it depends on what time you get in to Cancun... My plane get in at 3pm, so it shouldn't be too bad then... at night, might be another story though...

I was told on LG that Cinco De Mayo is not celebrated in Mexico, not to worry..lol..it is an American Holiday? Guess I will have to run up to Margarita's (local Mexican Restaurant) and have a Margarita before I leave..lol..just to celebrate.

Yeah, I saw that on LG too... But I take everything I read there with a grain of salt anyways. Just glad that the spring break season is over, I actually planned this trip around that, to avoid it, lol.

it's not a big deal in southern Mexico, more so around the DF and northern Mexico, it just marks a battle similar to our Alamo in Texas.... a reason to drink for some, a non-issue for most

Yep, just read a history at a website that identified it as a holiday to embibe.lol Interesting info..the US provided weapons etc. after our civil war was over, but, it seems by that time, the French had been overrun and disposed of.

its a big holiday for me ....my b;day....usually go to playa then but put it off till end of may....will celebrate anyway.... :)

not only that, but barb and I will both be in PdC at the end of may to celebrate!!! Hope to have a drink with you barb!!!

happy birthday chicago guy...will you be @ tequilla barrel on the 28th of may..i hpoe so ..by the way i got a message from the sail boat in puerto aventuras...cant find it but the miniumum amount of people is 6 the sail boat is truelly amazing if you can find 4 others im up for the sail
