Gale in KY

Well, can't advise enough about using sunblock..the sun is very strong in Tulum, but, usually the breeze is as well, and when you are on the beach, you won't feel hot..but, you will burn to a crisp if you aren't dilligent about using sun protection. Sunburned to a crisp is the best way I can think of to spoil a great vacation...
Chemicals kill the reef and are harmful to the sealife. Biodegradable sunblock is required at places like Xe-hla etc..and they do sell it, but, it costs a fortune..
Here is a link to a reasonably priced bio sunblock, protect the reef and the sealife as well as your skin and your vacation.

Be sure that any sunblock you order is bio-degradable, or says "Oil Free"
Also, don't count on a tee shirt to protect you..the strong sun rays can go right thru a normal cotton tee...and you will burn despite the shirt.
