Hello all! I am new to TI but have been reading and enjoying some of your posts the last few weeks while dreaming/planning for our first trip to Tulum this April. We will be staying at Genesis in Ek Balam for a few days and then spending a week in Tulum at Rancho San Eric. I wanted to have the small village jungle ruins cultural experince first and then head down to the beach for well, the beach life, and eating yummy food and hopefully getting a massage from the famous Margo.

I am still trying to figure out a few nature focused trips to bring the family, husband and two kids ages 3 & 8 :boat: while visiting. So far, I am thinking Ek Balam ruins and the nearby cenotes for our ruin trip, Akumal snorkeling, monkey reserve or is there a tour I can take with a local guide to where monkeys and other wildlife actuallly live that any of you can recommend??? I would also like to visit one or two small and not too far away towns for the market/colonial architecture and mostly for checking out how the locals live and the handmade textile, jewelery and other locally produced art, any suggestions?
My kids are troopers and used to being in nature and in far away places, but this will be thier first trip to Mexico. :palmtree:

:wave:Hola DoS! NOt sure how I missed this post before.....
Yippee on the massage, we are already in contact! WOo hooo!

But I wanted to address the rest of your post.....THe monkey cenote and jungle tour you can do with my friend Antonio at YucatanOutdoors.......you can find them on Facebook and my friend Nick does a tour of Akumal and cenotes his address is avatarAdventures also on facebook. Tell them I sent you!

For the colonial archecture, your best bet is Vallodolid which is near where you will be at Ek Balam. Very cute city and a lot of great museums, churches and the zocolo is fabulous.

But, I also want to caution you, I see so many people on vacation who do and plan WAY too much, and it ends up being the same tired been in the car too much bunch that you are used to at home....Stay at the beach, rest and play. That is what most kids would be happiest doing, espeiclaly if they don't know there are all these sugar coated options out there.......

See you in April!
