We are about to take our 2nd trip to tulum for our 9 year anniversary. i surprised my hubby last year for our anniversary with a trip to NVR. Before last year, we always did AI. We even did AI last summer with our kids, but from now on, if it is just the two of us, it is NVR for us. Last feb. we flew out of dfw and took usa transfers to tulum with no problems. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we changed, hung out on the beach and enjoyed our complimentary margaritas along with the other marg and beer that we ordered from the casa banana staff. We were on a budget and booked viento del mar which was so much better than expected. It is a beach view room( a much cheaper option at nvr) but it was amazing. It had a great view of the ocean and beach and had a huge wrap around porch. We took a cab to zamas our first night for dinner and it was delicious and i found a drink that would be my fav. of the trip, a chilada!.

The breeze in the room was amazing. we even had to shut our doors early each morning because the breeze was so strong. we enjoyed casa banana for breakfast each morning, usually at the resturant, but one day on our balcony. My husband chose something different each morning to add to the continental breakfast and everything was delicious. The rest of our days were all the same. breakfast, look for ice( the most challenging part of our trip), lay on the beach, walk to la zebra for lunch , lay on the beach, and walk to dinner. We were so lazy, we didn't even make it to the ruins.

We had margo come one day and give us both massages in our room. is was so windy we had to do it in the room instead of the balcony, but it was amazing! best massages ever! we also had some great dinners at om and a seafood/italian rest. beside om, but i can't remember the name. (Casa Violeta)

What a wonderful trip you had! We have stayed in that room too! They didn't have the loungers up there then though. Nice addition. It sounds right down my alley. Beach gravity the whole trip. I totally get you on taking the kids to an AI. It just works better most times for us. My kids just aren't ready to "rough" it! yet..........

Thanks neice for your wonderful trip report. We are staying in that room in april so it's good to hear others have enjoyed it. Nice bar set up! Did you bring the shaker, cutting board, etc from home or did you buy the set up down there? What what your favorite restaurant? Any favorite excursions or where you there to relax and unwind? Thanks

we loved all the places where we ate. i think the place beside om that i cant remember the name of was really good. we didnt get to try a lot of the places i wanted to because we were so lazy we went to the closest places . we didnt do any excursions unless u wanna call lookin for ice an excursion.we brought the set up for our drinks, but i think the cooler that is tuluminfos has a knife and cutting board.. we bought the booze at the airport.
we r from sulphur springs, about 80miles east of dallas. i so enjoyed reading both of yalls trip reports before i went last time and just finished reading the newer ones last week..

We have been twice now and have yet to do an excursion. And finding ice can be an excursion all of it's own!!!!

Hi, Neice, thanks for the pics! Is the bed in Viento a true king-size, or more of a queen? Looks pretty king to me, which is really nice. Were the stairs up there a hassle? They're pretty high, but I guess that's just more exercise. :)
Was someone else staying in the unit next door? Was that awkward at all for you?
Oh, and did someone from NVR carry your luggage up and down, or did you schlep it up there yourself?

I'm not for sure if it is a true king size bed, i will check when i am there next month. The stairs were not that bad at all. They carried our luggage to our room and picked it up for us when it was time to check out. We lucked out and only had a neighbor one night. YOu have to actually stick your neck around the wall to see them on the balcony. We never heard them. The wind was always pretty strong in the evenings and the sound of the waves drained the noise out at least i hope it did!

Looks like you two had some fun!
About the ice-there's an ice truck that hits the places on the beach road. We ordered it from our front desk on our last visit. My guess is some places may not oblige if they have a restaurant/bar, but maybe wouldn't hurt to put in a request at a place and tip well.

Viento looks like a pretty nice lower cost alternative to the ocean front rooms. Like you guys, we just like to chill and for about half the price...hmmm...
Thanks so much for posting the report!
