Is there an entrance on the south end of the preserve? I was just thinking about what to do with my last four nights (as yet unplanned), and since there are a few places I'd like to check out for future trips, I thought maybe I'd rent a car and head south but through the preserve.

You know, a night at Sol Caribe, a night at CESiak, then maybe, if I could get out at the other end, a night at Maya Beach Gardens, then out to the highway again to come back north. But of course this idea won't work if there's no way to get through the preserve and down to Maya Beach Gardens at the other end.

Am I dreaming, or could this work?

no entrance fee. no exit to the highway.

Nope, sadly you have to go around.

Darn, that was sounding like a cool idea in my head.

Still might just do the SK places to stay and save the MBG for another trip.

Thanks!

BeachR..I just don't think you can do better than Sol Caribe for a SK stay..The place is amazing. A week here is really secluded paradise.

I would save MGB for another stay..to get the full vacation experience there as well. Someday, I keep telling myself..but I haven't made it there yet...it is way up there on my list. I can't imagine just a couple of days would do MGB justice.

Both places are secluded and "way out there"..MGB in particular is not easy to get to and not much else is around..with Sol Caribe, you do have Punta Allen for a few restaurants etc. within reach.

Dreaming, but oh what a dream! I really liked the looks of the tent "cabanas" at CESiak - & the view from them would be to die for - I guess I agree with Gale - double up at Sol Caribe or CESiak for this trip - or all three nights at just one place - all sounds like nirvana to mehttp://www.smileyarena.net/Library/extra_large/plain_yellow/default/dreaming.gif (http://www.smileyarena.net/download.aspx?id=12335)

Thanks, guys. Depending on whether a friend (or two) decides to join me, I have a few options for those last four nights. Might go to Playa, might do this little jaunt into the preserve. It's the first time I've had any unscheduled time in the 'Roo, and I'm looking forward to making the decision on the fly.
