I remember this place as Eco Inn..about 7 miles down the beachroad..little cabanas for a great price. Well now..everything in Tulum has seen price increases, but 3 years ago, this place was only about $50 a night. Look out now..holy cow, I thought for a moment the prices were in Pesos.

Nice to know they are still open..this is one of those places that was so very popular awhile ago and seemed to have faded away.

Wow they did jump in price. But so is everyone else. We saw this place on our walk from TDS one morning and thought it looked nice though. Since we always travel in low season, it still is to high for me. I talked to carlos at TDS, last week, since were returing and he can put me to work, we will get the same rate again.

My wife and I will be there beginning of July and are trying to decide between staying at TDS or La Zebra. Anyone's thoughts? Pros and cons for each? other restaurants within walking distance? Please Help. We wanted to stay at Suenos De Tulum but it is not open.

Very nice looking place. Similar to look and feel of Copal's cabanas, but with electricity and fans. But WOW, that is quite pricey. Sometimes to me cheap = relaxing, and I think I'd fret about some of those prices. But as Tulum gets more "discovered" I'd say this trend will continue.

Where exactly along the beach is La Zebra?

According to Bill in Tulsa's map, La Zebra is between Amansala and Tita Tulum (with a number of other smaller places in between). Right next to Mambo Beach, which is someplace I've heard of but know nothing about.

I'm looking forward to taking a day or two for beachwalking and checking out a whole list of places I want to know more about. I wish more of them had beach-side signage, but I guess I'll have to be bold and just walk up and get a closer look.

A few years ago, La Zebra, aka Eco Inn was a bit more comfy than Copal..great beach and a really great value for what you had there. I ate at their restaurant, it was good, and very inexpensive compared to the rest up the beachroad.

Then they went off the grid..still had a website, but no matter how much I emailed, I couldn't get a response from them..went with Cabanas Tulum that year instead. Walked by, Zebra looked deserted, but was still being kept up..didn't see a soul around though.

Now, they have a different website, and a MAJOR increase in prices..pics of the cabanas, grounds etc. all look nearly the same as they did years ago.

Ouch. Way out of my price range, a shame because they were very laid back and relaxing. If it's the same management as was had back when I stayed there, it is a great place to stay..if you don't mind the prices!
