I'm hoping to get a meal at Hechizo on my next trip, but does anyone know if they take credit cards? I'm guessing probably not, just wanted to make sure I have enough cash, since I've heard it's pricey.

Like many Tulum restaurants, Hechizo does not accept credit cards. In fact, there's only a few beach restaurants that do (Ana Y Jose and Maya Tulum are two that come to mind...I believe there are a few others). Even if credit cards are accepted, it's usually limited to the 'top' cards (MasterCard/VISA) so leave your Harry's Big & Tall Shop card at home. Also, it's common for restaurants to add 3-5% to the bill if you pay with credit card. That, combined with the fraud opportunities, made me always pay cash for everything.

Finally, here's an interesting overview of the restaurant and the background on the owners. You'll notice they mention being closed on Mondays:

Enjoy!

Do people in Florida really try to use their Harry's Big & Tall Shop credit cards in restaurants? Wow. :p

I generally do operate on a cash basis for most restaurants, but for the high-end places it's just easier to use plastic. Should have known better, though, with the limited power down there.
