Hola!

I've been lurking around this forum quite a bit while planning my 7-night trip to Tulum (this August!). It's so reassuring to see so many people in love with Tulum, it makes me more and more excited to go every day!

I've been travelling to the tropics with my parents since I was a wee child, and now at age 23 I've decided to take my boyfriend along for the ride. He's only ever been to Florida before... so he'll be in for such a treat! :)

I've been to Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Puerto Vallarta. I went to the ruins of Tulum as a kid, but I don't have much recollection of them... so it'll be awesome to see them again as an adult.

Sooo looking forward to real Mexican food again... living in a small Northern Ontario city completely dominated by Italian restaurants leaves much to be desired. Can't wait to get my hands on some delicious fresh seafood... fish tacos... refried beans... mmmmm!

Anyway, this seems like a wonderful little forum, and so many people here have so much great advice to offer - so I'm sure I'll be posting around for the month before my trip, and I'll make sure to do a trip report after too!

Thank you and yes, we have! As far as flight and hotel goes, anyway. We're flying out of Detroit on August 13th, and staying at the Secret Garden Hotel until the 20th. It sounds like quite a lovely place... and when emailing the owner about rooms available, he knocked off the price of one night's stay for us! Awesome bonus!

I'm still in the process of deciding what kind of attractions we're interested in - going to the ruins, snorkelling at Dos Ojos and swimming with sea turtles at Akumal are definitely on the top of the list. :D

Welcome, Janna!

Secret Garden does sound like a really sweet place to stay, and your plans sound good too. Please come back and post some pics of Secret Garden, we love seeing more about the pueblo hotels.

Did you consider staying on the beach for a night or two? I really think it's something special, waking up to the sun, and going to bed after checking the beach for turtles. I know August isn't quite as laden with specials as September, but I just thought I'd toss that out there.

Hi there, thanks for the welcome! :)

I'll definitely take tooons of pictures and let everyone know how our stay goes at Secret Garden. For some reason I didn't even think about staying on the beach... next time I guess! I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time on the beach anyway, and hopefully spot some turtles too. :)
