On the HL website, they use the plural form for Cabanas when describing each room. Do they only have two units, or are there two of each style of unit? I don't mean to pick with their writing ability, just really would love to know if they have more than two rooms.
I've written them for availability, so I guess the point might be moot, just curious.
The website shows a picture of a space that seems to have tables and chairs set up as though they have a restaurant. Maybe that's just for breakfast, but it was nice to see.
The prices look amazing, too, hope they have availability.

My understanding is they have just 2 units - Lee should be checking in sometime this weekend - do a search on Hamaca Loca & you will see pictures that Lee took - the restaurant part I do not know about -

Thanks, Min. I just got kind of hopeful about more units there. Lee's pics are great.

Hamaca Loca at least in June appeared to be well, not open, the Cabana in the front or ocean front looked like it had not been occupied for a while. We never did see anyone there except a worker who stayed in the big building next to the road with the construction eq. We could'nt figure out what was going on around there. The photo shows the "For Sale" sign at beachfront listed by Re/Max. We stayed next door to the south at Tierra Del Sol. Spent 3 days around the place. I saw Hamaca's web site also and looks to be clean, but one never knows when the photo's were taken. Has anyone heard from them, do they respond to your e-mails?

Actually, I just heard back from them, and there's apparently a third unit now. And it's available for my dates, so I'm seriously considering it. It's called the El Pirata unit, and only $55, but "seaview", not "beachfront", and a double bed, not a king. But hell, $55?!?!

Interesting that you saw the "for sale" signs so recently, but apparently they're open for business now!
I'm curious about the beachfront amenities. The striped-cushioned chairs, are those TDS'? Or are they for HL as well? On Lee's pic, it looked like the whole stretch of beach and chairs was HL's, but I'm guessing theirs are just the white plastic chairs? Not a big deal, but I spend hours in those chairs...

Yes the striped chairs are TDS. The Palapa with the sign, north w the white chairs must be HL as the next place again has striped chairs. Glad you heard from them I'm sure it will work out fine. From where I was standing to my right directly is TDS.

Beachreader,
First off, Hamaca Loca is open and the property for sale is between HL and TDS. Secondly, they originally just had two cabanas available (at least that they promoted on their website) but now have added the third. Cabana Pirata is not beachfront like the other two.
To walk you through HL, let's take a tour of the property. When you head down the beach road (going south almost to the Sian Ka'an arch), you'll notice the front entrance to the property...

The layout is similar to that found at most Tulum beach properties; entrance leading to parking area leading to path leading to reception area...

leading to interior housing (Pirata) leading to beachfront housing (Tortuga and Caracol)...

When we toured the property, no one was there...no guests, no visitors, no staff. We could tell they were expecting folks (candles were lit in the rooms, fresh towels and linens were on the bed) but there wasn't a soul to be found at 10:30am. Everything was immaculate and I've read good things about the owners and the service. We were very impressed with the place and will likely stay there our next time down.
By the way, dcap's right about the chairs though you could probably use TDC's without getting thrown in jail. In addition to the white chairs they also have the wooden slat type, plus the two beachfront cabanas have hammocks on their porches.
Finally, I completely agree that $55/night is a GREAT deal...might make me rethink my requirement for a King bed!!!

Thank you for the great pictures and all you terrific information on your trip. Currently information on Hamaca Loca is starting to pour in. I'm glad, because I'd like to see this place be a success. With the prices they are charging compared to everyone else in Tulum they deserve all the "kudos" we tourists can give them.

AMEN!!! I love to support the little businesses versus the big conglomerates (I'm just a small biz owner myself). Hamaca Loca is a great place run by caring folks providing an amazing experience for a tiny bit of cash. I hope they do well...and I also hope they remember who gave them a great testimonial!! :D
