Hi All,

I've been lurking a few days and discovering you all from a trip report link on TA. I think forum is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm in the process of planning our first trip to Tulum. I have a long, chatty intro post written, but timed out and lost it, so now I'm just going to leave it at bare bones. =D

Ola! Are you sure you want to come to Tulum, you might want to look into Cancun or PDC. Now that they have built the airport in Tulum it is a nightmare down there.

Cancun???? If I wanted to stay in the US why would I spend all that money to fly to Mexico? LOL! Besides we have better beaches in NC. =D

Nah, I was an exchange student in high school which was an amazing experience but totally ruined by interest in being a "tourist". When I travel, I like eating where the locals eat, etc.. I was initially thinking of staying in the Pueblo for that reason, but decided I couldn't pass up the lure of the ocean right outside my door.

Well, since the 25th wedding aniversary is coming up this Sept, I thought taking my husband might be nice. =D

I've been toying with the idea and researching since about March and now that he's finally home want to plan in earnest. I just need to wrestle his attention from the kids that are very excited to have a dad back in country.....oh and have him get back on base and confirm he's not going to be deployed again during Sept. I have so many things I want to do in the area that I'm really going to need to focus on balance and not overplan.

I'm sorry...I just wanted her to see that it was all about the body shots, funnel's, and general mayhem...that takes place on and around the Tulum beaches...i'd rather be honest and a trustworthy source of information, than some of us here :-) hint...hint...

Welcome, Mojito!!! Glad you've got your husband back in country, pray he won't be sent off again before you get to Tulum. I'm thinking he may be overdue for some just hanging out on the beach and chill time, but there are plenty of things you can plan once you're down there. September is such low season booking things won't be a problem.

And when in September, do you think? A few folks around here will be down there then!

Gee, guys you sure know how to welcome a newbie! If I didn't know better I'd be shaking in my sandals. However, my amazing research skills have already lead me to read a trip report or 6. I think y'all just have something to hide. :p

Beachreader, it's looking like maybe around the weekend of 9/24 since it's the only weekend that doesn't have a kid requirement already. We'll still need to check with the deployment schedule (except for 2 months this winter the poor guy has been in either Kyrgystan or Afghanistan since last Sept, and he's civilian!). Also need to confirm the ILs are available around those days to stay with the kids. I'm hoping to go at least a week and am campaigning for about 10 days but I'll take what I can get. =D

Your welcome has been full of laughs! They cracked me up, glad to see you knew they were pulling your legs, both of them!

You might want to check out the "ten reasons not to stay in Tulum" thread started way back in 2007!

I think we should add the airplane landing to that one too!

LOL! It certainly appears that way. I was going to make a cheeky comment about getting either a huge or small eyeful but decided the best course of action might be to just slowly step away.....

I'd love to come down during that time frame and meet some of the crew, but the UNC-A parents' weekend is during that time. Maybe as a sophomore, my eldest won't want his family to come....

Ah come on you guys...............give a girl a break!!!! I HAVE to go to Cancun in April for my sons wedding. I'd rather be in Tulum, but what's a girl to do? I'm hoping it's not as bad as all that! hehe!

Deb I am sure the wedding will be beautiful! Were you going to be able to get down to Tulum for a few days afterwards?
