Hi!

Have 10 days total in late March 2012. Planning on spending 3 days in Playa Del Carmen to get open water dive certification then the rest in Tulum. Don't know if we should rent a car at airport or in Playa or maybe just for a day or 2 from Tulum. Any thoughts on this would be great.

Next of course is where to stay. First of all had looked at the Casita del palmeras I think it's called thru vrbo. Just kind of concerned it may be kind of hot since it's not directly on the beach. Then found cabanas tulum which is quite reasonable and to me looks nice but people on this board don't speak of it often. Just read about villa las estreslla and that looks nice too but might be too many kids.

My husband and I do like to relax but we are fairly active so any ideas on workout classes like Yoga/pilates or access to a gym would be greatly appreciated. Have read about kayak trips in the biosphere area that sound like fun. We do also like to party once and a while, even though we're not exactly spring chickens, so would like somewhere close to do that as well.

I'm sure I will be posting some more thru the next many months but if anyone has any info on the topics above, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much.

I just got back from CT and highly recommend them. Rooms are impeccably clean, nicely appointed, staff are very friendly , professional, and bust their butts to make your vacation enjoyable. Free breakfast is very good and incredibly filling.

Rooms are small and there's not a lot of storage, but that's about all that I could say that's not glowing.

Trip report will be forthcoming!

Thanks JunkyBurrittos!

Sounds great! We certainly don't need a lot of room as hopefully we won't be in there much. Did you do any of the activities they advertise on the website like Yoga, cooking class and cocktail tastings? Did you try kite boarding? Kind of looks like fun.

Again, thanks so much for your input.

You can find yoga at Yoga Shala. I've heard of people dropping into Shambala Petit also. Maya Tulum has yoga - it's everywhere!!!

In March, I think the little casita Palmereras would be fine. There are fans and it will cool down a bit at night. I think there is a small kitchen which you might find very handy...even if you only use the fridge.

You can get a kayak tour through Cesiak. We once rented kayaks at the place just south of Cesiak on the lagoon side of the road. It's this place: http://www.ecotravelmexico.com/visitorscenter.php I do recommend getting a guide, though - you can get a little mixed up amongst the mangroves.

I was going to suggest Shambhala Petit as well. It is only 2 doors south of you if you stay at Cabanas Tulum. We did not go but I have heard good things

There is so much to do to stay active, really where ever you stay. Don't forget time for relaxing! We did not do half the things we had planned, but todo bien, it's chill time too!

Yoga shala is great and there is also In spirit and other places on the beach. There are also 2 great gyms in Tulum now that offer amazing classes including private yoga or Pilates at your place of business. Dharma and Evolve. You can find both of their class schedules on the Tulum Living Events Calendar. They both offer daily or weekly rates and are both very nice.
