My husband and I want contact information for La Zebra cabanas in Tulum if anyone can help. Their website link doesn't work. I need contact phone or e-mail. Has anyone stayed there recently? Are they still in operation? All of the websites that used to represent them appear to no longer make reservations. We are leaving in about a week.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

La Zebra is still there, but, it appears their online database is off line right now, at least according to travel-center.com...guess that means their website is not working at present..I would just keep trying, hopefully it is a temporary thing.

Yes,.....their website links have been down for a while and ALL other websites that show reservation listings for them say they "no longer represent them."
The ONLY contact we have been able to make was with someone who seems a bit suspicious and only accepts direct electronic transfer of payment to a bank in Boston....so we were not feeling secure. I really wanted to make direct contact in some way either by phone or e-mail.
I have read so many people getting scammed by purchasing their tulum cabanas off of "phoney" websites. I just wasn't comfortable and kinda wanted to trust my gut and go directly to the source. I thought maybe they were out of business or something. Maybe next week it wouldn't be too hard to go without reservations...but then I want "right on the beach!"

Are there reasons why you have not booked with a different place right on the beach? Are the Zebras a "must stay at" place?

I read lot's of trip reports that said that a couple of their cabanas were right on the beach and were lovely and clean. I just don't understand why none of their booking agents are taking reservations and their website has been down so long. I simply have no way of contacting them. Too bad because they look exactly like what I am looking for. I have googled every cabana that has a website. Most of my other choices are already booked....at Copal I can only get a Garden or Jungle unit for example. Or....like their neighoring resort...too pricey. I don't want a place catering to people "into" something special....ie. yoga or fishing or spa services. Because I don't want to DO anything but enjoy time with my husband and relax.
I think I will have to settle for someplace else...but I really wanted La Zebra. For my second two days I am planning to stay in those tents in the trees at the Cesiak resort at the Sian Ka' an reserve. That looks really different and fun.

We walked by Cabanas Tulum several times when we stayed at Los Lirios (where we had a very good experience), and it is on the short list for the next time we go to Tulum.

Thing about returning is this: there are many places on the Mexican Caribbean we want to explore - and on the Gulf side, so I dunno when we will get back to Tulum. Need about 6 months vacation a year :) The last trip we did Isla de Mujeres and Playa - seems like Playa will probably be a constant with 3-4 nights spent somewhere else on each trip.

What was it about Cabanas Tulum? Is that your question. I wrote nothing negative about it. I know little about it, other than it is on the beach and looked nice.

We had a good experience at Los Lirios in May 2003, unlike the people petecat wrote of. It was not full when we were there. The restaurant was not great, but was acceptable. The staff was nice, the rooms were superb as was the beach

I read a great trip report somewhere, will try to find it..the man was on his way to Xcalak, I think, and stayed there as a stopover on his way..there was a sandstorm during the night, and he awoke to find a spider monkey on the porch of his cabana, sheltering from the wind and blowing sand..said he gave it some fruit and it became his companion for the duration of his stay there...that would be awesome! This is my kind of Tulum experience..anyway, he described the rooms as comfortable and clean, and less than $100 a nite.

Will see if I can find the link.
