Hello everyone,
We are going to spend our honeymoon in Yucatan. All together we will stay in Mexico for 33 nights and from that we will stay for 14 nights in Tulum at NVR. The rest of the time we will go on a roundtrip through Yucatan. I have read many threads on this webpage and I am amazed about all the great information. Is there anyone out there who will be in ther area around the time? Any must haves? Any recommendations for our roundtrip? It would be great to hear from you and get in contact to exchange information!

14 nights in Tulum and at NVR.... you are going to hate it, turn around now and head straight for the AI's in Cancun, because you suck!!!!!!

Just kidding we tend to get jealous of people coming around here and spending that amount of time in Tulum. From your post I am assuming that you have never been to Tulum / Yucatan before, and seeing how you have decided to spend 14 nights in Tulum you are smarter than the averge bear!!!!

But do all one big favor before you leave....when in Cancun go to the beach and take a pic of one of the huge hotels and tell everyone that is where you stayed, we don't need/want everyone finding out about our little gem of a place.

Congrats on your marriage and more so spending that amount of time in the coolest place in the world. Oh and tell Marisella HI for us...she is the cutest little Mayan girl you have ever seen!!

Thanks for your reply! When we first decided that we want to spend our honeymoon in Mexico we came up with Cancuun. But doing a little research made us change our plans quickly! We are really nature lovers and we really don't like AI resorts! We wanted something special and unique and we hope that Tulum will give this to us. I am actually pretty sure it will... We can't wait to go and are really excited!

Welcome to our forum Denise and congrats on your nuptials!

WOW ~ 33 nights! Again, I am envious! You are one lucky chica!

Suggestions for your trip.

#1 Whale Sharks ~ you can either get trips to see them from Isla Mujeres or Isla Holbox. Both islands have their charms, something for you to research and decide! (Isla Contoy is also a side trip that can be planned from Isla Mujeres if you decide to go there.)

#2 Merida ~ I have as yet to visit this city but have heard from all who have what a great experience it is!

#3 The flamingos ~ http://yucatantoday.com/en/topics/flamingos

#4 The ruins ~ too many to choose from!

#5 The cenotes ~ again too many to choose from. I would say if you see a sign for one, stop. Here is a link to a page with some listed ~ http://tulum.info/showthread.php?2516-Cenotes

When in your travels does Tulum fall? End of trip? That would be my suggestion, get all your sightseeing done first and then settle into Tulum and just relax the rest of your trip.

I am making an assumption that you will have a car? There are so many great places to see in the Yucatan. I haven't even covered anything south of Tulum!

Ditto to everything Minnie just said, especially the whale sharks and Merida (and everything else).

You'll be at NVR during turtle season, which is going to be a really incredible experience for you. In July you should see both mamas coming up to lay eggs and baby releases at NVR. I think they have information about it on their website, but do be sure to have a flashlight/headlamp with a red lens, as white light on the beach during turtle season is a no-no. The red light doesn't bother the turtles, but hopefully you'll be there during full moon--you won't need a light on the beach at all!

By the way, as with everyone else, I'm terribly jealous of your long visit--taking a guess you're not from the US, as no one up here ever gets 47 days to travel unless we're unemployed or retired.

Hey everyone! Thanks for all your replies! Great to get such great information from experienced tulum travellers! Beachreader, you are right on that one! I am not from the US!! I am from Germany and yes we do get long vacations! The plan is that we will first do the roundtrip and then relax at NVR. We are not sure if we are going to take a car... we would like to decide when we are there. I have read that they have a very good bus transportation system... Do you guys have experiences with that? Thanks for the gread advice with the turtles! We are really excited to see them... i saw some pictures of turtle releases on tripadvisor and found it amazing! Really looking forward! So we have one more thing to get for the trip! A headlight with a red light!!! Great!! We will leave germany June 23rd and we will come back July 28th. Looking forward to hear more from you!

Hey again... i forgot to ask: Which is the nicest room in the zona corazon at NVR?

All the rooms are very similar in design & decor. I would say you need to decide whether you want upper or lower. I love the view from the upper units but absolutely love walking right out on the sand from the lower units. You need to decide which is right for you. All of them are excellent choices.

Say, Denise ~ where do you live in Germany? I lived over there quite a few years ago while my husband was in the service. We were in Neckarsulm in the southeast.
