Hey Gang,
I've recently noticed people asking for locations of restaurants downtown or where beach hotels are located. I picked up this map (created in June, 2006) on a recent trip that might be helpful...

No...Dani does an EXCELLENT job with the Sac-Be news. It was a great resource as we explored Tulum (especially the back streets). They even had a coupon for a complimentary treat at Casa del Buen Pan! :) Just goes to show you can buy my endorsement for as cheap as a free macaroon! :D :D

I will be sure to tell her how much you enjoyed your macaroon!:D :D
I run for the closest copy of the Sac-be the minute I arrive in Tulum..and I am absolutely addicted to the website..it's a great way to explore the area when you can't be there in person!

So when are they starting their forum? Just need other options in case this board 'heads south' (pardon the pun) once we merge into playa.info.

Hi, I came across this blog online looking for info so I just signed up.
Your postings are great - so thorough and helpful.
My wife Jen and I have been to Tulum twice already - we stayed both times at Los Arcos(just south of Dos Ciebas) but the place had done a bit downhill the second time so we want to try something new when we go back.
I checked out some of your recomendations for our next trip(in late Feb we hope) and they look great but I didn't notice any that had a kitchen. (we like to cook ourselves too)
So our question for you is - as you checked out all these places on your last trip, did you come across anything nice and private with it's own kitchen on the good stretch of beach? ( I guess anything south of Tita Tulum?)
We've been finding plenty of beach houses with kitchens on Soliman Bay but they're a bit big and pricey for just the two of us, plus I don't think the beach is as nice there.
Any help at all but be much appreciated as time is ticking for us to book something.
Thanks so much
Ian & Jen

There are a few villas on Tulum's southern beaches, but they all seem to come with big price tags too. I have never stayed here, but have heard others say they enjoyed their stays..I have no idea of what they rent for, but you could contact them for more info

They are located almost all the way to the Sian Kaan arches.
This place is on Tankah Bay,north of Tulum, kind of basic but in a good location

Also on Tankah Bay, looks good in the ad, worth checking out.

If you would consider Akumal, this is a great price on a tiny place, just off the beach. Aventuras Akumal is an awesome stretch of beach, not much else there but villas, condos and a dive shop.

Hope this helps a bit
