I just spent an hour or so cutting and pasting all the great stuff from this site and putting it into one file. Before we go i'll print it all up. I did this before our trip to Europe last year and it was perfect! for one thing (in europe this matters) we didn't look quite as touristy w/my little notebook and papers as we did with guidebooks. And there are always great specifics and things that don't appear in guidebooks in these posts.it saved us many times in Europe from just eating wherever was closest. It's also good for shopping references. While I'm doing the research my husband think's I'm loco but after we returned never having had a bad (or even mediocre) meal he was sold.
The only thing is There are alot of places that are mentioned over and over here and i'm not sure of location. I wish there was a way I could post a map and have someone put markers on it or something..I'm going to try to figure out a good way to do it and make a list of places I need addresses/locations/directions for..mostly restaurants. I've put down what info i do know. let me know if I'm wrong.
La nave
Nachos
Pan Bakery
Pollo Bronco(downtown?)
Las Ranitas
Don Cafeto's (beach and town)
Charlie's (downtown)
Casa Cenote
El Mariachi (downtown)

Sounds great!! I know Nachos is on North Tulum beach & you can't see the sign going north on the road, only south - (per Lee's report:D ) -
Casa Cenote has signs on the highway - just north of Tulum Pueblo -
Same for Oscar Y Lalos - signs on the highway - really a fun place to visit
There thats my only help -

Thanks you guys! Especially Gale, now everyone can use that little list for their own little cut and paste guidebook.
thanks again for saving me all kinds of time trying to find these places...not that we won't probably get lost sometimes anyway..but that's the fun part right?
Did I miss any good ones? We especially like the hole in the wall types of places like Pollo Bronco appears to be.
Also your vote for best margarita? Every time I smell a lime I am transported to mexico..even though we haven't been there in 10 years!
That map is great!

The best margarita was at, of all places, Tita Tulum's restaurant. I really don't remember too much after having it (a good sign) but it sure was tasty. The margaritas at Mezzanine were a bit too fru-fru for me (flavored with cutesy names), Dos Ceibas were just okay, but Nacho's were big, decent tasting, and served in a great environment...

Question...Is "bad margarita" an oxymoron? :)
