Welcome! I love Virginia, especially the Tidewater region.
Where are you going to be staying in February?

Here is a post I made in another forum yesterday. As a rookie, and not knowing when we will ever get back, we want to "Do the trip right".
We are staying at the S and S for 5 dys 4 nights.
Hello to all-
As a first timer on this site, I am really impressed with the number of 1) people and 2) # of times you people have been to Tulum!!! But, to be honest, we asked some friends and family where to go for a quick getaway from kids/anniversary and on 3 seperate occasions, we got a reccomendation to Tulum.
We did not want a "cruise ship on land" and have not taken a vacation together in 4.5 years. We wanted the tropics, but without the cruise ship on land kind of feel. We did a cruise for our honeymoon and there were 61 honeymoon couples.
Anyway, we heard ecxellent reviews of the Ocho Tulum, which turns out to be S and S hip Hotel (not too fond of the name). However, we were able to get a nice deal, with airport trans and a room on the water.
So...a few questions for any veteran Tulumers out there:
1) anyone ever stayed at S and S ? How was it?
2) Are the beaches safe at night? We've heard most great restaurants are within a mile of each other on the beach, but realistically plan on walking home after a few tequilas....smart move? or cab?
3)We love local "finds", since we are only there a few days, any "must stops for lunch"?
4) Looking to spend two days "on the beach" and two days "exploring". Any good cenote's, ruins, etc. We've read the general things, but wanted to know if anyone had any great experiences. We were thinking of renting mountain bikes one day...
5) Looking for any great lunch spots......
6) More importantly, looking for any "musts' for dinner. We are definitely, beach and outdoor dining kind of people.
7) Our friends told us a good way to drink on the cheap was to buy a bottle of booze or wine on the way to the hotel, so you can make your own drinks in your room at your leisure. Anyone advise against this? Or all for it?
Many thanks to all!

That's OK, we can all see all of the forums, so you have many answers on that thread already! :D
