For those of you who have been to Azulik before. Looking to find out if you can have a small cooler on your deck for Beer or Ice for drinks? I know they don't want them inside, but I didn't know about outside.. Thanks!

Yes... been there a few times in the past. While their website discourages a cooler, we always bring one to keep our drinks cool (you can buy ice just down the street...within walking distance). No one has ever said anything. We stop short of bringing any food because we do not want critters in our palapa.

Yes.. there is a small grocery about 100 meters south of Azulik (on the road). You can also get there by walking down the beach. They have a limited amount of options, but they have the basic & good choices that you would expect for Mexico.

Understandably they want to make the sales of the Beer rather than us buy it somewhere else, hey they got to make to make a Buck to. We stayed next door at Copal we had a small folding cooler with cervasas no one said a thing we also had a few snacky things IN THE CABANA.
Not really a problem with anyone I guess, it was granola bars, nuts stuff like that all packaged products, no troubles. No Bugs, No Critters well there was that Iguana that was hanging around but he didnt eat much. Respect the property, be polite and all is good.

Oh yes Beer is always within walking distance. :D

As far as Pizza, my vote would be Zamas we ate there and fell in love with the place, oven fired pizza even also south of Azulik.

Bronco Pollo is in Tulum town about 3 miles away. If you have car or taking taxi it is a do not miss. It is on the left side in town right along 307 the main road (highway). Do a search for Bronco Pollo on this site I think Adguy posted some photos of the place. But it is excellent food authentic style.

Adguy I remember you had posted sometime back a few shots of Bronco's. I think we had a nice dinner w/ beers from the store seems like next door or real close was like 10 bucks. Great choice.

Is the town close enough to walk or should we take a taxi? From all the maps that I have seen, it is hard to get a feel of how far the town really is.

Taxi. some say they have walked it, but were talking 3 miles plus one way. Alright you say thats not to bad and I agree, I have and can do that. However, walking into town with mosquitos, and The heat and if its for diner it may be dark on the return and who knows what else you'll stumble across, a taxi is the best. It is a long straight road that goes and goes. On your way to Azulik you'll see what I'm talking about. When you turn left off 307, remember how far you drive and imagine walking that after dinner and few cervasas. Last trip we had rented a car, now we wont go without one. We gave rides to some girls who we met in town and had planned on walking back, my wife talked them out if it and we gave them a ride. Dropped them off at Copal at least they made it that far safe.

Is there a place to rent cars or scooters around the Azulik? We don't want to drive to tulum, but we might want to get out of the area one day. Is there a specific place to catch a taxi around the Azulik?

If you wait out front you'll see 3-4 a minute go by going both directions, if they are empty they will stop if you wave them down, if they have a fare they will be back, no trouble catching a Taxi. If you want them to pick you up after they drop you off, let them know and they will be waiting for you.
