My husband, Crown, and I found your site a few days ago and have really enjoyed reading through the trip reports and all the good info on Tulum. We are planning our first trip in February and plan to stay at Nueva Vida de Ramira. Once we saw all the good reports on NVR on your site I am even more excited about our trip. :D I look forward to learning more and I am sure we will be posting some questions in the near future.

Welcome Kate!
February at NVR... NICE! What room did you book?? We've only been twice which is much less than most here but we are happy to share any info we can... Have you seen the NVR Bar Setup Kit thread?

Thank you for the warm welcome! We have not booked our room yet officially as we were looking into flights and seeing what days we could get the best deal. I haven't seen many great deals out there leaving from Charlotte.
We were trying to decide between Cabanas La Luna and NVR. NVR has a room available on the dates we are considering in February. However, our time to take the trip is flexible and April is another month we had considered. Which place would you all recommend most? Which month between Feb and April?

Which room at NVR is available for you in February? I love Cabanas La Luna, but I know they're booked pretty solid through the winter; I think it opens up in April. For room and staff, I would pick La Luna, but given that the weather in NC is already getting nice in April, I'd rather travel in February, and NV is a great place. But I'd still like to know which room is available at NV to make my final choice.
Kind of a tough call in my book!

I'm looking forward to you TR and pics!
What is the weather typically like in February in Tulum?
Any suggestions on a rental car company?

I am not sure about the weather in February. This was our first trip there.
We used EasyWay and we did not have any issues with them. They were very nice and helpful. You can find them on the web.

Wow, only 16 more days till Tulum! I've been watching the weather for Tulum and it looks like it will be a little cool at night. Any suggestions on what to pack?

I'd bring one long-sleeved shirt and/or jacket and a pair of lightweight long pants (I have some nylon/microfiber ones that are perfect). That's usually good enough, and as a backup there's always the jeans and stuff we have to wear to the airport.
I don't mind coolness at night, love sleeping under a blanket--I just hope the days aren't too windy!

I was just down there last February and the weather was wonderful! The ocean was calm. But..... you never know what you are going to get, the weather is the weather. A day in Tulum beats any other day anyways, rain or shine!
A link to my trip last Feb is in my siggy below.

I am honestly praying for calm water. I've been pretty lucky my last three trips, but the three before that were pretty rough and windy. So fingers crossed, but as Minnie says, a bad day in Tulum still beats a regular day up here in February!

Only two weeks to go, and we have now convinced some of our friends to come along with us! They are staying in Playa Azul just up the beach from NVR. Any of you guys have any comments about this place? We are hoping to share a rental car with them, and I think the two places are only about a mile apart. You guys should get credit for marketing Tulum so well, this forum helped us and my friends to decide to come to Tulum!

Playa Azul and NVR are about 2 kilometers apart, so not much more than a mile. Not sure how you'll share a car unless one team is always willing to pick up the other (cell phones rock), but it's certainly worth trying, and you'll get a good sense of two different parts of the beach. Fun that your friends are coming with, glad we could help!

I agree! :) I'm going to try not to look at the forecast till I am ready to pack.
