Hey Gang,
We got back to Florida about 11:30pm last night (Thursday). I'm just now downloading our pictures. We took approximately 550 photos! It will be a few days till I begin my trip report but I thought these fresh shots (just taken within the past few days) might give ya a quick Tulum-fix:
The start of another great Tulum day...

Great Shots keep um comin'. But you know this is going to make the rest of us sick with envy. I still have to wait till June. :(
We have been looking forward to our next trip, alone, when some friends of ours saw our pics from last year and said they want to go with us next trip. Now we love this couple and have even been to Hawaii with them, but Playa & Tulum is ours and we dont want to share. Now we have to figure out how to politely refuse and keep them our friends.:o

Andy,
It's Nacho's Latitude 20 on the beach just south of Mezzanine. Here's the sign (which can only be seen when traveling south on the beach road towards the intersection)...

And here's their menu...

We got the Seafood Combo (under Family Plates) for $350 pesos. It typically comes with lobster but they were out so they added a bunch of great grilled fish. We had the ENTIRE PLACE TO OURSELVES for the whole meal (it was definately a 'movie star' moment as we felt as if we had rented the whole place for just the two of us). With the waves crashing right next to us, we didn't feel it could get any better...until Alfonso (Nacho's brother) ask if we'd mind if he shut down the generator and left us with our candlelit table in the dark to watch the shooting stars! Perhaps the best moment we've ever had at a restaurant!

We'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place to anyone...it was the BEST ATMOSPHERE of any spot we've been to in Tulum!!

Bless you Lee, you don't know what those pics did for me! On Dec. 14th, Western Washington was hit with a 100 year storm, and we had 100+mph winds on our coast, and 60-70mph winds in my neighborhood. It was carnage around here. Huge 100ft trees down everywhere, no power for over 1 million homes, no heat, no water, no gas stations open, no food (grocery stores) no pharmacy, (I couldn't get my elderly mom's meds which she desperatly needed) in other words, a LIVING HELL!!!!!!!!! today is the 20th, and there are still thousands of homes with no power, and another lesser storm is to hit tonite with winds of 30+mph, and all the trees that are damaged and leaning may come down. They also say another one is coming on Christmas day........ ANYWAY, to see those lovely pictures calmed my soul, and now I am trying to think of arriving on March 1st, and not about what is going to fall on me next!!! THANKS and I hope your trip was the best ever, can't wait to read the trip report!!:)

Lianne,
I passed by Freedom Paradise and thought of you. It stands ready (with guards waiting) for your arrival. Unfortunately I couldn't get in to take any pictures (see "guards waiting" reference above) but I know it will be the perfect antidote to the wackiness you're currently experiencing! We have our share of nasty weather (aka hurricanes) here in Florida, so I know what you're going through. In the meantime, here's a few more photos to help you weather the storm...
