Mahahaul and Xcalak camping and accomodations

I saw listings today for a couple of new places..at least new to me..had not seen them before.

"Forty Cannons Hotel" looks very nice and the rates are seem very reasonable. It is in Mahahaul.

There is also a campground in Xcalak now..it also looks very nice and at a great price..they have cabanas to hang a hammock in.

Just passing the word along to anyone who would like to venture south of Tulum.

Ask the military boys who patrol the beach to stop for a picture? I didn't take a pic of them when we were there in January..but, I would love to get a photo for my "Tulum" albumn next trip..they always look so stern, I didn't know if it would be acceptable to even ask..any advice?

Hi Gale, I have taken several, in Xcalak, tulum and Cozumel, I always ask and they pose, sometimes with my young boys! :D

xcalak.info is where I found alot of info for the Mahahaul, Xcalak, and the Costa Maya.

Locogringo also has alot of info, including pictures of the rooms and the beach etc. as well as prices.
