View Full Version : It's not just the beaches and the "cool laid back vibe"

When we started talking about going to Mexico about 9 months ago we were going to go to PDC. So we found the PDC forum and were learning everything we could about everything PDC, and then someone mentioned Tulum and the "cool laid back vibe it had going on down there"!!
So after spending some time on this website we figured why not split the vacation between PDC & Tulum... then we realized that we were spending all of our time and thoughts about Tulum and the "cool laid back vibe it had going on down there"!!
So about 3-4 months ago we decided "let's just spend our whole vacation in Tulum" (we might take a day trip to PDC).
Besides the "cool laid back vibe it had going on down there" and the beautiful beaches, what we really gravited to was the type of people, the attitude of the people, and the overall helpfulness of everyone on this board. There is no way that we can list everyone that has "helped" us make our decision about what we think will be our best vacation ever! (we leave tomorrow).
But last night we got a PM from Sue & Tom (Westybchbum). They had just left NVR and knew that we were going to be there a couple of days later; they left behind a cooler and a knife for "our bar setup kit". We thought that gesture was indicative of the type of people that are all about Tulum, and wanted to share this with everyone.
Also, we will leave the cooler and knife behind as well, and hope that someone that is about to come to NVR can use it. We fly out on Wednesday 10/27, so if anyone is planning to be at NVR starting on 10/31 please let us know and we will leave the "bar set up kit" for you.

I totally agree Chuck & Lainie about the helpfulness of everyone on this forum. We were actually looking to go somewhere else in MX and decided that Tulum was a better fit for us. We have been several places in MX and are hoping to find somewhere that we will want to continually go back to. I believe Tulum just might be it!!!!!
We will be heading to NVR 11/06 and everyday I get more and more excited.
Have fun and look forward to hearing all about your trip.

big thanks goes to James and the Mods, BR and Minnie. I too have been here since PDC info and I believe I was one of the first to sign up here at Tinfo. I did not visit Tinfo for many years, but one day got back on, and even though I have lived here for 10 years I still lean on this board for great information. I have met just a few of you, but these relationships are actually real and indicitave of what makes me proud of my community, the people.
Thanks UTMCK, I was just returning from a 10 day trip and thinking about sending this same thanks..........Gracias TInfo!!!

And if you like tequila you have got to try their Red Cactus Margarita!!!!!!!!! If & when I am back in that area of the world, this is the ONE thing/place I will make sure not to miss!
Again I hope you have a blast & tons of relaxation or adventure (depending on what cha like. ;) )

Wow. How awesome is that?! You know, I've found that good people attract good people and that's how cool things happen. :) Glad I get to be a part of such an cool place! :D
ETA - oh, and we the same thing as you! this is our 10th anniversary trip and after 10 years of babies, diapers, moves, ups and downs of economy, jobs, etc, we were ready for a brainless vacation that required no planning whatsoever. We decided that for once in our life, we were going to try an all-inclusive. Just book the flight, pay the hotel and be done with it. Heh. That didn't last long!
First I was like, "let's try this Tulum place for the first couple nights, then we'll go up to Secrets for the last few nights", which hubby kind of warmed up to. Then, after spending two days on this amazing site, I was, "yeah, we're not doing the all-inclusive. Just trust me!!". Hahaha!
Now, I must say, it must be hard knowing that while promoting a cool vibe and helping to keep Tulum visited by like-minded souls, you're doing a great thing. But, there's a selfish part of me that would have a hard time sharing my little secret slice of paradise, if I were y'all. It's a fine line to walk, I think. But, you all seem to do it very well! So, I for one, appreciate your openness in sharing. :)

We were just so glad to pass it along to people we know will appreciate and use it! We even passed along the great Margarita recipe we discovered on this forum. I'm putting our TR together now... just have to say this trip was SO different than the one in May where we didn't have the benefit of this group. Tom immediately came home last night and joined the forum as Tortugaytortilla (yes, there is a story but we shall call him TyT for short as Margo suggested...)
The laid back cool vibe is priceless, as are the people we have met here. We look forward to years of many more visits and friendships.

:wave:I LOVE THIS FORUM! And am SO GRATEFUL for all the support that I get from everyone here. It is SO MUCH FUN getting to meet so many of you and really know that we will always be connected by our love of this wonderful place. FAMILY! And you are all so NICE! :p
I too first was introduced to the concept of a Travel Forum on another site, and I didnīt like the vibe at all, so dropped the idea. Then one of my guests sent me a link to his trip report on THIS forum and I loved it and the peopleīs comments were so kind and exciting! People looking to improve their lives with the beauty and feeling of this magical place. I was like, wow, this feels like a family, so started lurking......jajajaja. Well, soon I was addicted! The rest is HISTORY! :o
One of the ways to look at the idea of how much it is growing and how many people are hearing about the vibe, is that it is raising the vibration of the whole world. :earth:
So yes, THANK YOU! All of you! I LOVE MY LIFE and YOUR PLACE IN IT!
AaaaaauuuuuuuU!!!!

Aw, now I got a little teary-eyed. I do so love this place. Not just Tulum, but Tulum.Info and all the great folks who hang out here.
In the past few years, I've met a number of folks from this site, and there is not a single one I wouldn't call friend. And I mean friend in the real-world sense, not just online. And some of you are my family now, my seesters!
Besos a todos!
(did I say that right?:o)
