So we have those 2 rooms Estrella and Viento and I think the stairs are going to be a major problem for me. My knees are bothering me lately! I think the resort is almost full. Wishing now I had booked Blanca Duna. Bring on the tequila!

Oh boy. Start taking your chondroiten and glucosamine and all that good stuff, and maybe ask NV to put you on the waiting list for Blanca Duna.

And then just limit your trips up and down the stairs to once each way each day. Might be possible. :D

That is true. We will be out all day but maybe back in our rooms for a quick change before dinner. The problem is we just moved and it was exhausting! Plus I no longer have a lovely walk-in shower so climbing over the deep tub is taking a toll on my knees already.

I stayed in Viento and the stairs just aren't that bad and I have bad knees and I am not a spring chicken! It really is just 3 half flights of stairs. When in Tulum you haven't been working all day and the stairs are pretty easy. We do quite a bit of walking also and it wasn't a problem and we stayed for 8 nights. Don't worry about it. Just think how much you are going to enjoy this vacation, focus on the positive and there will be no negatives!:beerchug:

Good advise for everyone!!! This is your vacation...enjoy it to the fullest, no matter what the day may bring your way!!!!

Tulum is rustic, and not Cancun or at all Americanized. However, there are so many positives, that cloudy weather/rain, sandblasting wind, cold unexpected nortes vs heat/humidity, critters in your bungalow, food & service not up to expectations, not to mention the "don't flush the tp" issues, pale in comparison to beautiful beaches, glorious sunrises and the stunning turquoise water!

I'd take Tulum over the comforts of home anyday!!!!

Stealing the photo as well- and ditto what you said. I will even climb stairs to enjoy Tulum whether it is to get to my room or at a ruin. Something in the air there makes it all ok.

Less worried about the stairs now but the weather! And what's this about the tp?

You aren't supposed to flush the TP in the toilet because of the way they have to set up the plumbing - it's a big no-no and can cause problems both practical and environmental. You just put it in the trash can. No biggie. It doesn't really smell too much.

hahaha I prefer that. Less chance of plugging the toilette!

As Phyllis said, it's not too smelly and your NV maid will empty the basket once a day when they clean your room. The no flush policy isn't just NV and other hotels......it's everywhere in the Tulum area....restaurants & bars, too.

I truly dream of this daily. :o
My darling man says I would get bored very quickly. I believe it would take years. I would just love the opportunity to see just how long til boredom sets in.
Alas ~ one day I will be on the beach in the warmth of the sunshine. God, I do love sunshine! :sun::sun::sun:

I also wanted to find how long boredom could be stayed...and almost went for it when I found my wife was cheating....i think the problem with staying that long was the fear of it becoming boring, and it no longer being the land of my dreams...I instead will take it in small doses and thereby be able to enjoy it forever

My husband says the same thing! He says that you get used to your environment and no longer see it the same as others. I tell him I could never overlook the beauty of the beach on a daily basis. Besides, can you think of anyplace better to be bored??:p

Does anyone know if bottled water is available in the rooms at NVR?
