I am coming with my kids to Tulum in November for 10 days and am lost as to how to pack. Being that it gets "cool"in the evenings what would would anyone suggest?

I have been many times, and I still overpack. Sandals, shorts, t-shirts, swimsuits, sunscreen, and toiletries are are about it, unless I'm missing something else obvious. You will probably not use shoes at all, or long pants. Regarding "cool", I haven't found it that way, even in November, and I go every November. Maybe one long-sleeve or heavier short-sleeve shirt would be in order.

I have worn long sleeve fleece at night in Tulum, pants too.
We are on the beach in a breeze, so that may be why.
But go prepared for a chill at night, ya gotta be comfy, yes?

I was there last November and this was an exception. It was unseasonably cold and dipping down to the high 50's at night. I am not joking. There were Mexican's going from restuarant to restaurant looking for soup it was so cold. Tienes Caldo? Tienes Caldo? I never got in the water the whole trip. The swimming pool was ice cold because even the days were not warm enough to get the temps up after such cool night. So I would be sure to take at least a hoodie or light sweatshirt and a light pair of pants. Hopefully it won't get as cold this year as it did last. I don't mean to scare you, but I would have liked to have been more prepared for the cold myself. I have been there 20 times and was freezing. Although it was warmer than Denver so I can't complain. I did wish I had gotten to swim. I should have brought my wet suit!

I've been to Tulum many times in November, and really appreciated having something warm for cool evenings. One pair of lightweight pants/jeans as well as a long sleeve top should be just fine. :)

Weird! I was there Nov. 10 - 15 and it was glorious and warm at the beach as usual, with the windows open all night, and the water was awesome. :-)

We were in Tulum last November, and at Xamach Dos with Margo. And it was an El Norte. Very cold. I was glad to have a sweatshirt and Levis. It felt good at night and in the morning. I always take a sweatshirt and long pants.......

If you are like me (someone who gets chilly easily), I always bring a pair of khakis and a long sleeve shirt... and in November I do bring a very light fleece or a sweater. That wind on the beach can be fierce, and if you want to walk the beach in the evening or get up with the sun it can be chilly.

That being said, I don't mind wearing the same thing a few times (especially when it's just for a few hours at a time), so I just bring the one pair of pants, one or two lightweight longsleeves, and the fleece.

Typically I'd enjoy a beautiful day on the beach, shower in the evening, change to pants and probably a short sleeve shirt, and bring the fleece to dinner. It was usually on by the time we were walking back to our room. That's the basic pattern for me in Tulum in November!

LOVE it though. GREAT sleeping weather, and you enjoy the warm sun of the day and then get to cool off at night. Perfect!

Not weird at all...the weather is usually balmy in the evening. No one can promise perfect weather and temperatures....it changes in Tulum just like any other place in the world. :) I just like to be prepared for a possible cool evening.

So that all being said this may be a whole new thread( I'm new to this) Speaking of packing and getting ready to go with 3 kids( I've been to the other side of Mexico san kids) Medical insurance, Car, Map chick maps,Reservations, Bug spray, Sunblock, General itinerary, Sunny weather and chilly evening clothes. Anything we are missing or forgetting about that would be helpful?

Here's stuff you & the kids will use: Small flashlights for everyone and spare batteries. Small first aid kit. Good travel clothesline (triple braided latex.) Small games or cards for kids.

Weather in Nov is warm & wonderful. For the cooler times of the day/evening I'd bring one pair yoga pants, one thin zip hoodie.

Honestly, November is my favorite time to go. Not as many people. Warm & beautiful during the day, but not so hot that it's overbearing, and nice and cool in the evenings. Really, you'll love it.

And don't worry if you've forgotten something. You can get anything you need in the pueblo. It might cost a little more than in the states, but you can pretty much get whatever you might need if you forget something. The San Francisco is well stocked, and there's a pharmacy or two on the main strip. Little harder sometimes asking for what you need if you don't know Spanish (like me), but I've figured it out more than once!

Not that you should just plan to buy stuff there -- but it's just nice to know you have a safety net should you need it.

Cards or books or puzzles or something for a rainy day, in case you have one. But you won't! Maps, phone numbers/email addresses. Make copies of your important documents and keep them in a separate place from your passports, etc. Depending on where you are staying, you may want to bring your own soap or shampoo etc. A lot of folks also bring zip lock bags, to pack clothes in if they are wet or damp from the humidity and to save space in luggage.

Do a search for packing lists and you'll probably find more info than you want!

If your kids are small, you might find that having sip cups or cups with lids and straws are very handy...sometimes they haven't gotten the grasp of drinking from a bottle of water or glass.

I would pack some "beach toys" ~ a few buckets, shovels and molds to play in the sand. These were priceless when we were there with our GK's.

November can be cold, we have only been there the early part of Nov....Weather is tricky so i suggest lightweight pants, and a cotton sweater..and a hat, as you lose a lot of heat from the top of your head, so a visor etc would be great. The last time we were there in late Oct and early Nov..it was pretty chilly at night...I wouldn't over pack with lots of warm clothing...take the light pants and light shirt...and if you are cold, grab a lightweight blanket from your room and go look at the night sky
