Hi! :wave:You can enjoy the pictures with some short stories and explanations here (http://picasaweb.google.com/vmckay).
In short, I flew into Cancun, rented a car and drove to Merida. Took me a little bit less than 3 1/2 hours. Spent 2 nights and 1 day in Merida. Then drove down the Convent Rte, and spend the night in Ticul. Then on to Loltun Caves, Uxmal, and Izamal. Spent a night in Izamal, and then drove to Chichen Itza. Spent the night in Chichen Itza, and drove to Tulum, stopping by to see cenote Ex-Keken and Dzinup, and the beautiful church in Uayma. And then 4 days in Tulum paradise at la Nueva Vida. All in all, I didn't get lost, I found the roads surprisingly easy to navigate, plenty of signs, and the road are very good too, well paved and everything. The worst road was the one from Valladolid to Tulum, very bumpy. I took different types of maps with me, one from Frommer's guide, and some I found on the Internet. Navigating was a breeze. :sun: I'll be glad to answer any questions. It was just a perfect trip! I've seen everything I planned and even more, and the weather was just great, I was there from 5/30 to 6/8.

How amazing! That is just fabulous in my mind that you did that on your own. Just incredible. I want to see all those places too! And you did it on your own during the whole swine flu thing. Excellent. Thanks for the great photos!

Sounds like an excellent trip. Seeing the pictures brought back many memories - we did a similar route in February - even to staying in the same room as you at Posada el Jardin. Roman is quite the talker, isn't he! As for Oxcutzcab; we just called it "the place with the unpronounceable name".

Thanks for sharing and the great pics!

Wonderful!!! I love Merida, and isn't Uxmal so spectacular? Izamal, etc. The fotos are so good, and it's great that it all went well! Did you see Hacienda Chichen? I could stay in their banos! hahaha:p

lazydog- thank you! Whenever you decide to go, you’ll definitely have an amazing trip, guaranteed. This one was one of the best trips ever for me. This was my first trip solo, and I’m glad I went alone, because I could plan my own day the way I wanted, and managed to see even more than I planned!
northern boy- I loved Posada el Jardin, such a cozy and tranquil place. With Oxcutscab I remember when I had to stop and ask someone if I’m going in the right direction towards “it” , I’d just pointed to the map and its name, because however I tried to pronounce it, it was wrong any way :rolleyes:
Toni- no, I didn’t get to hacienda Chichen, maybe next time. Yes, I’d say Uxmal and Izamal were my favorite. After Uxmal, I honestly wasn’t that impressed by Chichen Itza. Uxmal is just so much more impressive, and it’s one of the most spiritual places I’ve ever been to

Girasol, I agree Uxmal was a truly emotional visit. So magical. Words don't do justice.

Great trip! Merida is a beautiful, old city, of which we haven't been to yet. Thanks for the pictures and your input
