greetings all!

I am going to be staying in Tulum for a few days at the end of the month and was wondering what the going rates are for taxi fares from the pueblo to the beach?

Also how much is the taxi fare to cenote Escondido?

Has anyone used the Weary Traveller shuttle? How dependable is that as a method of getting back and forth?

One last question. According to a map I have, Cenote Calavara is 1.7 km from the 307 crossroads. Would this be accurate? Has anyone walked to this cenote from the corner? Is it doable?

Thanks so much

Hi Dutchie,

Welcome to the board.

We stayed at Copal last May and found the taxi fares from there to the pueblo to be about $35 MXP or $3.50 USD. I don't know at which point they might go up for a trip farther down the beach road.

We were slugs last May, not really doing much more than beach time, so I cannot answer your cenote questions. Next May we plan to be more active.

Enjoy your trip,

Dan

That's correct on distance from the crossroads. It's a dusty, busy road but certainly walkable. Of course, a taxi there would be pretty cheap (20 pesos would be my guess) or you could also rent bikes for the day. Another 2km down the road is Gran Cenote (my personal favorite)...

Dan, how did you like Copal? We are splitting our January Tulum stay between Copal and Posada Dos Ceibas.
