I read 5 rave reviews on Tripadvisor about a Monkey Sanctuary called Jungle Place where you can actually get to interact and play with several monkeys. Has anyone ever been here? The reviews on Tripadvisor said it was somewhere between Tulum and Alkumal? How do you get there from Tulum? Taxi or Collectivo. Also what was your experience like?

Thanks
Tiffany

The Jungle place is great! It is located in Chenuyil, just south of Akumal.
I spent a week there with my daughter a couple of years ago.
Here she is with Maya, a baby.

Super cute, Dan!

To get there, a rental car is best - it's way back a bit past Chemuyil. Make sure they know you are coming - I think you need a reservation. There are a couple of cenotes back that way too.

We will not have a rental car hubby refused to drive in Mexico . So if we go I guess we will take a cabbie.

Thanks

Or you can buddy up with some other guests at your hotel who have a car (make sure to only talk to people who have a car!), and maybe tell them all about the wonderful monkey place and wouldn't they like to go with you? You can buy them lunch for the gas or something.

I think we have some serious "profiling" going on here!!:D

Ok, I remember that hammockgirl hired that company and ended up with "Judy" and they went to the Jungle Place ~ here is a link ~

If you look earlier in her trip report I think she gives the info on who she hired. You might want to check into that because they provided the transportation too.

Yep, here it is ~ look for day 2

If you plan lunch in Chemuyil, try La Palapa- It's wonderful. Great food, reasonable prices and they give you free appetizers!
