Forgot to mention that the price of the bus from the airport to Playa is now $90 pesos. Also the head of the ejito land in Marcario Gomez said that the government purchased land for the new airport for $15000 pesos per person from an area located on the north side of the road between Marcario Gomez and Tulum. Not sure if that's true.
Our Explorer had a few problems so Trudy had a new battery and solenoid put in while we were in the states. We also had to bring down a shifter cable . After a little work in the morning and a few adjustments we were on our way to the car ferry in Calica. Lots of construction on 307 especially around Puerto Adventuras. For your own safety don't drive at night. No lines on the road and all the old ones are going in every direction. Really hard to tell where you are going. There is on the average, one death a week on Hwy. 307 between Cancun and Tulum not counting all the accidents.
We didn't have to wait very long before we were ready to be loaded.

The price for a family vehicle is $360 pesos which includes the driver. All other passengers pay $60 pesos each. We paid our fee and carried the beer cooler to the top deck. It's much nicer up there with the fresh air instead of below with the air conditioning. Temperature is around 87 degrees with a warm breeze.

Leaving Calica for Cozumel.

Crossing the channel. The trip takes around an hour.

Coming into Cozumel.

Upon arriving on Cozumel I had a few minutes to check into the Villa Blanca hotel then try to find a parking spot around the ferry pier as I had to meet some friends coming in from Chicago for Carnaval. I couldn't believe all the work being done to the pier. Here is a photo of how it will look when completed.

My friends arrived on the 5 or 6 o'clock ferry. I forget but we go them checked into their hotel ( Fontane) then went to Otates for dinner.

On the way back to drop my friends off at their hotel, the Explorer started sputtering like it was running out of gas. We managed to coast into the military base by the guardhouse before it died out. At that point I knew it was the alternator. I flagged down a cab and gave the driver $50 pesos to give me a jump. That didn't work so the cab driver called a mechanic friend of his to come and give us a hand. This was around 11:00 pm. Instead of having my friends wait, I sent them back to their hotel in the cab. No sooner than my brother and I could finish another beer, the mechanic arrived with a fully charged battery. He exchanged his old battery for my new one and we got the Explorer started. After exchanging a few words it was decided that he would meet me at my hotel at 10:00 in the morning. All was good and we made it back to the hotel when I realized I didn't have the cab number of the driver that called his mechanic friend and I had no idea of who the mechanic was or where his shop was. He had my brand new battery and I had his old one and the problem still wasn't fixed. Not being one's to worry very much we had a few more beers before going to bed.
