Nope, it's not Tulum, but I need some quick info on where to find internet services and other interesting places to see, eat, things to do for a 1 day visit. Any suggestions, other than swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Discovery?

Gale....Wish I could help you but I don't like Puerto Aventuras. Reminds me of Miami Beach. I used to go there to see Spiral Island but it is gone now. Richard, who owns the Stop and Go in Tulum, owns a steak house there. Gringo Dave is supposed to have a place there also. I belive the Omni hotel has internet service.

First off, you have to hit Paco's Tacos along the highway entrance at PA. Great shrimp and fish tacos!! Do you dive? If so, Aqua Exploration is a good choice. If you're interested in what's under the water (but not interested in actually exploring in the H2O) there's the CEDAM Recovery Museum, located on the marina. They have artifacts from over 15 Mexican shipwrecks. Finally, if you're looking to be spoiled you may want to try the Bella Mar Spa in the Omni hotel. They offer massage, facials, body treatments, a full gym with yoga and aerobics, plus manicures/pedicures.
Now the tough one...Internet. I do know there's fax and copy services place located on the marina. They might have Internet service (they're closed on Sunday but open every other day from 9A-2P and 4P-8P)...you may also have luck at the larger hotels.

Steve-I suspected PA would not be my cup of tea..but some of the people who are with us this visit thought they might like to visit. I don't even like Miami Beach in Florida! We will be close by one day, thought maybe I would see something I hadn't seen before..but maybe we will just stop by Akumal instead for a margarita at Lol-ha. I heard Ritchie is supposed to relocate the island to Isla Mujeres? I would have loved to have seen it and met him before he got wiped out in the hurricane. He sounds like quite a charachter!!
AdGuy-Thanks for the info on Paco's Taco's sounds like a good place for lunch! I don't dive, but sure wish I did..I would love to get my certification, have always had a facination about what's under the sea. Gotta put that on my to do list.

Dont really know much about P.A. Drove around there a couple times but nothing really interested us. It is good for people that dont really want to feel like they are in Mexico (imho)

We're not big on PA either, mostly I don't like how the whole place encircles a dolphin trap.
BUT, I am sure somewhere along that circle there is internet access, we saw it once but that was a year or so ago.

Gale,
For clarification, Paco's Tacos has good food but is not what I'd consider a good place to eat. It's located next to a gas station on the highway...not the typical Riviera Maya atmosphere I'd want to share with family/friends. Still, it's worth grabbing a "to go bite" if someone in your group has the munchies.
We both got certified about seven years ago after snorkeling for years and watching the divers explore great areas. It's one of those things I'm glad I did (and did right by going through a several-week, full certification rather than one of the quickie resort courses). We've seen some amazing stuff and had some incredible experiences while diving. We've never dove off of the Tulum coast but will probably do so in December.
Have a great time!

Ginger- I completely agree, I really don't want to support the captivity of the dolphins for amusement. They can call it education if they want to, but all it is really, is a profit generator at the dolphins expense.
I will probably make a pit stop at Paco's tacos for some munchies for the road and return to Playa for a night out.
Our local dive shop has a special on open water certification for the holidays..sounds like a good gift to myself! I would prefer to do a checkout dive in warm water though..all we have here is a dark and murky river and cold weather. Great reason for another Tulum trip!
