I put together a list of restaurants that are with in walking distance to Playa Mambo, we will not have a car and I want to make sure we have a good selection. Please let me know if I have missed any. We will only be in Tulum for 3 days so I am sure we will have a good variety near Playa Mambo.

Thanks

I don't think Sirenas exists. I've looked for it in vain over the years.

La Zebra, Om, Amansala, Ocho, Banana, Tita's, and I believe there's a new place on the jungle side of the street in that neighborhood, so you might look over there as well.

Plenty of places to choose from in your short stay!

There's a new place in front of Amansala, Called Turquesa (jungle side). Fresh seafood, great place. Pretty reasonable prices. We had:

huge shrimp and octopus cocktail= 90 pesos
guacamole= 40pesos (i think)
Agua de melon=25

Great pico, gave us one free beer with a flyer. Also gave us a complimentary grilled tequila marinated pineapple that was devine! Yum! I think our total was way under 200 pesos.

Great owner very friendly. However, the day we went, some inspectors showed up and said they didn't have the "municipal permit" even though they had the "state permit" so there was a huge comotion, we went back on monday for lunch, but they were closed. The owner said they were open 365days. So i wonder if they are temporarily shut down. It's a great place and I highly recommend it, so hopefully they are back up and running soon!

Thanks, Amo, we'll take a look next week and see if they're open again. Yet another place to try!

Good list!

Does anyone know if Cantaros (ice cream shop in the pueblo) is still open? No one has mentioned it in awhile. Hey, as long as your checking out places, Beachreader, do you mind adding this one to your list? I know it's difficult, but someone has to do it. :D

Do you mean the gelato shop(s)? Or is there an ice cream shop as well?

I had gelato in December that was delicious.

I thought last year, that Windycity said it was ice cream, served in cute little bowls.

We found two Gelato/Ice Cream places on the main drag of Tulum.

This is the place I felt had the really good Gelato. I rate my Gelato by the quality of the Pistachio, I felt this Pistachio was a clear 3.5 out of 5. We went to Italy last summer and ate a lot of Gelato!! Pretty close to really good Gelato. Price I think was about 60-70 peso for two Gelati.

The second place we went to was an ice cream place with Gelato . I think it was more ice cream made to look like Gelato. I had the best ice cream there. Yummmy. My daughers Gelato.....hmmm..I don't think it was Gelato but kind of a ice cream decorated to look like Gelato. But......for 20 peso we had one coconut ice cream on a stick and one peach Gelato. Can't beat those prices!!! We actually walked back to make sure we had not underpaid, they thought we were weird. Go to the first photo for Gelato, this next photo for the ice cream. In my opinion anyways.

My yummy coconut ice cream on a stick from the second photo place. Of course I had eaten half of it before I decided to take a photo.

If they had this coconut ice cream on a stick thing here, I think I would be two sizes bigger. I love going to Mexico and eating all the yummy full fat dairy products they have. Wish I had of eaten more of these ice creams on a stick.

Sirenas???

We went to the 1st 4 listed, and liked them all well enough. Top picks:
Tita: Chicken fajitas
Casa Banana: Spinach and cheese crepes
La Zebra: Fish tacos

Our favorite by far was Casa Violeta (next to OM). Better food and similar/less pricey then the rest. The Tuna tartare app and the grouper & beef entres were the best we had in Tulum.
