Very true. If anyone is visiting Akumal, I would encourage you to stop by the CEA office and see first hand what this great organization is doing to protect the enviornment and the marine life. With all the massive development going on right now and planned for the future, it is more important than ever to support their efforts. Remember their efforts are utilized all over the area, not just in Akumal.
There are all kinds of ways you can assist CEA. Their adopt a turtle program is a good way for visitors to the area to give a little something back at a minimal cost and goes to ensure the marine life, reef and enviornment of the area has a voice!

We did a "turtle watch" through them a couple years ago - we went out at night & watched for momma turtles to come up & lay their eggs - we weren't lucky to see any, but they did have a few "rescued" baby turtles to let loose that night - all in all a great experience !!
