Hello, for those of you who have stayed with them (and it seems there are MANY!!), I'm looking to rent Cabana Congreco, but also need another cabana that is close in proximity (going with another couple and we haven't had luck finding a 2 BR cabana). Does anyone have pics of all the cabanas? Or are they so close to each other that it doesn't really matter?

Thanks very much!

I think /KNOW!! the best Cabana is: Tortuga. Great deck, right on the beach. The one that is up front. Everyone will be JEALOUS. The other cabanas are nice too, but this, in my opinion: Simply the Best. I will be hanging on that porch for 5 nights come April 29th. Luciana and Claudio are great! Luciana speaks English somewhat: Claudio: No, but both speak great spanish. WHich is good for us, as Dave/todo bien speaks the language fluently. They pretty much leave you alone to enjoy the MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACH in the area. Power 24-7. But remember to conserve.
Here are some pictures: Beach and Tortuga

Can i just interject: It's nice to have some Space with your traveling companions...Tulum is a very peaceful and romantic place. I would prefer to have 2 different cabanas, than share a house with anyone. Even my best of friend. Enjoy..It's awesome there. Great stretch of beach where you can walk and walk and walk...clean, white, soft sand..
and it really SUCKS, and there are bugs and critters and other annoying things..so don't encourage others to come ;)

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, we decided to get separate cabanas, but we want to have 2 that are next to each other. Do you have pictures of all the hamaca cabanas so I can see the proximity? We want to rent congeco for 1 because we want the kitchenette.
Thanks, again!

They are fairly close to each other. It's a small property, which affords everyone staying there a nice amount of privacy.
I dont have pictures showing them all but you should have no concern that you are going to be too far away from your friends. Hamaca's website will help you, perhaps, view the location of each cabana. It is a Cabana property, and not set up like a condo property.

Tortuga is the only unit at HL that's actually beachfront. So if I were you guys and had the option, I'd have one couple get Tortuga, and the other couple get one of the units with a kitchen. That would be the best of both worlds if you really want the kitchen. None of the cabanas is far from one another (heck, they only have like 5), and I think your group will really like having the deck at Tortuga at your disposal.

I love, when did you take that picture of Tortuga? It looks like they've redone the thatch since I stayed at HL last year (Dec. 07):

Wow, that roof looks like it was hit by a hurricaine!!! Glad it was better when we were recently there.
We were there:
This past fall, early November. They were re-doing the other roofs too!
That deck at Tortuga is the best! Can't wait to get back there in April/May. When we booked a few days ago, they were apologizing for not having a restaurant, and i replied we LOVED it the way it is..no extra noise, just the peace and relaxation we need and want when we come down. I am pretty sure they have a cooler for guests...so for those that are going, take some ice to cool your beer etc. The road there is great and because we rent a car: We can easily get to town to shop, eat etc...Plus there are so many places along the beach to dine. Have NEVER been ther the end of April and first of May..always go end Oct and early Nov...we may see places open this trip that weren't last.

I think we are about to book this place - the website states that they have coolers but no ice. Where do you get your ice? Is it going to be a daily trip into town to pick up ice?

There are a few places along the beach road that sell ice, shouldn't be too much stress to get it when you need it.

See if you can find a block of ice, it'll last a lot longer than the cubes you get in the bag at San Francisco. 'Course, it also takes up a whole lot more room in the cooler! :)

Just stayed at HL Tortuga (Jan14-18). This is by far the best cabana at HL. There were some nice beach front cabana's at Tierras Del Sol. TDS had breakfast and dinner. Also, the former Casa Magna is now MilAmores milamorestulum.com/ , that offers breakfast and lunch(2 for 1 margarita's). Highly recommended. They open at 7:00am for coffee to go. The 18-20 oz coffee was 25 peso's

Hi, ezgoer, thanks for the update on Casa Magna, I've been wondering about them for a while now.

Ok, I am starting to get a little p*&sed...I received an email from them yesterday indicating that La Tortuga is available for the time that we are down there. I replied that we want it. Haven't heard from them yet. Is this an example of Mexican time?

Yes.

Don't be pissed, they'll get back to you soon. Is it Danila you're working with? When I stayed there last year, I'd hear from her very promptly for a couple of e-mails, then there would be a gap of a few days before the next one.

So, even though she may not be officially on Mexican time, it's not always very prompt.

BR - as a matter of fact it is Danilla. So that is the way she does things? If so, I can live with that, just wanted to make sure that we haven't been forgotten.:p

It's really the way things are done almost everywhere down there, sorry to say.

I'm sure you haven't been forgotten. I know how hard it is to wait, when you're right at the end of the search!! :)

Well, the original email from Danilla stated that I had 24 hours to respond - so I responded within 20 minutes after consulting with "she who must be obeyed". That was yesterday afternoon. Sent Danilla another email this morning and still haven't heard back from her...

Relax...Danila will get back to you. If it is available and you have shown interest no worries. Sometimes it takes a couple of days. No better place to unwind.

I have never seen blocks of ice, where have you?
They do supply coolers. No Ice. Also: Drinking water:You get a couple of small bottles of water, and if you want more you can purchase it there, but we just bring our own. they also have internet.

Woo hoo! I'm so glad!!! :sun::sun::sun:

I had heard that some ice suppliers do blocks of ice. When I tried to buy ice from the guy at the convenience store in beachtown, he said he didn't sell ice. I opened his big old cooler, and he had lots of partial blocks of ice in there. It was evening, probably 8:00, so I bought a big chunk from him and carried it home in a plastic bag. So blocks exist, you just have to find them. :)
