Hey Gang,

I thought this might be a helpful thread for those researching spots to eat the next time they're on Tulum beaches or in town. We often take photos of the menus (one to remember what we had and, two, to look forward to the next time we head back). First off, we realize many day trippers to Tulum head down to El Parasio beach club. Here's their drink and lunch menu:

Now, we'll come off the beach and head in town. A favorite of most is Don Cafetos...

Here's their menu (as of June 06):

And one last one...El Pollo Bronco. A great spot in town to grab lunch, but unfortunately I only have a shot of their sign. It's on the west side of the main street running through Tulum (307) just south of Don Cafetos:

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/FloridaAdGuy/ElPolloBronco-1.jpg

Okay, so where's the menu? Look at the bottom right of this photo. The orange sign is their only menu:

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i317/FloridaAdGuy/DSCF1170.jpg

For those without x-ray vision, it says:
1/4 chicken...$20 pesos
1/2 chicken...$30 pesos (1 person) or $35 pesos (2 persons)
3/4 chicken...$45 pesos (2 persons) or $55 pesos (3 persons)
Whole chicken...$60 pesos (2 persons) or $65 pesos (3 or 4 persons)

And here's what you get in the 1/2 chicken (2 person) meal for $35 pesos (which works out to be around $3.25USD)...

I'm getting hungry just looking at that shot! :D Okay...anyone else have others?

Thank you so much for the info... It looks sooooooo good. For the most part, are all the restaurants like this? Which restaurants are really great for authentic mexican? One more question then I will shut up... Any good mexican pizza spots? We have only stayed at all inclusives in our past 8 trips to the Mayan Riviera. We are going to Azulik this time and we are really looking forward to the change of pace. That is the reason for all the questions. We want to get the most of the true Mayan Riviera experience.

Though I've never eaten there personally, La Nave gets rave reviews for their pizza. A good thread to check out for more suggestions is:

WOW!! That picture of La Nave's pizza is killing me!:D I can actually taste it!
Seems like Don Cafeto's at the beach was just a little bit more expensive than in town, but I didn't have the same thing when I was there that I had in town and can't say for sure.

I've been lazy in updating this. Here's the menu for Luna Maya (one of my top five places to have dinner)...

Their fish, seafood, and lobster parrilllada is out of this world!!

And my all-time favorite spot for dinner on the beach: Nacho's Lattitude 20...

Sorry for the cropped right side, but you can get the pricing from the "spanish side" on the left. Too many margaritas!! :D

One of the popular spots to stay, Tita Tulum, also has a restaurant with pretty decent food (and wicked margaritas) that is open to the public. Sorry for the wicked flash...

An in-pubelo spot right on Highway 307 (across from Don Cafeto's) is El Mariachi...

Glad to help, lianne. http://www.33smiley.com/smiley/baddies/22.gif My next tune is one I like to call "Mezzanine Menu"...

By the way, Tita Tulum also has great breakfasts. This place, along with Casa Banana and Don Cafeto's (beach location), tops my "best place to have a great, slow-paced Mexican" breakfast...

AdGuy you are right in top of things. How did you know I was thinking that anyway? I have done a couple of searches and found just a few menus but this takes the cake. Thanks Alot!

Denada, fc. I have a few more I'll try to post before you leave. Here's one for a popular breakfast spot, Zamas...

Here's the menu (sorry for the blurry images but I still think it's readable) for a great little place most people walk right by...Don Karonte. It's real close to Don Cafeto (boy this Don guy sure cornered the market!) but I provided a photo reference for those interested in stopping...

And here's what it looks like (though I don't expect those two folks to still be sitting there when you go)...

One more thing... Your thoughts on good ceviche places????

We had good ceviche at El Marachi and Don Cafeto (both downtown). For some reason, I've never had it at any of the beach restaurants.

Yumm!!! Thanks for the outstanding list and menus. I've cut and paste and now have a pretty good idea where to eat. Thanks for your candid review. Especially for the best drinks!

Is there a map that references some of the places mentioned in this thread? I have a feel for where Don Cafetos Pueblo spot is, but the rest of them? Thanks in advance.

Mayaflya has done a good map of the Pueblo restaurants in a different thread. I'll try to find it & bump it, but it's probably still on page 1, they were just working on it the other day.

I use Bill in Tulsa's map a lot. There's also a map on sac-be, and then Gale knows of another map link that I don't remember offhand - hopefully she'll post it!

Minnie, that's funny, a different menu from the one I was given at lunch. I'm so sorry I didn't take a picture of that one, but I did shoot my check.
