I know some of you guys are fans of Puerto Morelos, and I seem to remember someone talking about a PM forum similar to this one (no, there can't be anything like THIS one!).

I'm going to take a swing through PM on my last day in country in April just to look around, but I'd like more info on the hotels in town and I can't remember the sites I've seen in the past.

So I thought I'd ask you all!

BR, I was wondering about PR also, as our flight lands at 9:00PM and I don't want to pay for an AI when arriving at midnight!! Our flight home also takes off at 7:00AM, so maybe another night there on the way back??

Here you go, ladies..

We have an early flight home in March, so we plan on spending our last night in PM, less stress the next day about making it to the airport on time.

We stayed at Hacienda Morelos, http://www.haciendamorelos.com/ now I think it's Hacienda Carmen, or something like that. We did a walk-up in May for between $50-60. The Viva site is the best resource for info, but you can also try the trip advisor forum, although I remember it mostly being about the AIs near PM. The Alma Libre Bookstore also has rentals, but I'm thinking there might be a minimum stay. Here are a few Hacienda Morelos pics...sorry, nothing of the interior. PM is charming, and I would stay there again in a heartbeat..a great overnight only about 15 minutes to the rental car drop offs.

You can also google Ojo de Agua, that's where we are staying in March, not sure if there is a link to them from the "Viva" site.

For our first night we have booked a room at Rancho Sak Ol. We are also getting in late at 1930h so do not want to drive very far.
Rancho is south of town and was kind of difficult to find our first time there but now we know the route.
A quiet place, not much of a beach, but then we are only using it a stop over anyway.
$95 per night with a discount for cash.

We love Puerto Morelos. We usually stay for the week and rent a house. Last year we stayed a couple of days after stay at Xamach Dos. We found a little house called Casa Anita. They rent by the day if it's available. Real cute - 2 bedrooms with a sea view. The couple that represents the house has a B&B across the street and has several rental options. Try David Lau's for dinner! Enjoy.

We stayed in PM several years ago. In fact our first Mexico vacation and really enjoyed the small quant fishing village. I found our condo on v r b o dot com website. The condo complex is Casa Blanca and is about 5 blocks from the square. A nice walk with a outside rest/bar you pass to stop for a cold one.

Also, found a wonderful lady Martina for massages and other herbal treatments. Dh had a "BEST EVER" hot stone massage. If you wish her business website feel free to email me.

Yes, and I've been feeling awfully guilty about it ever since. You'll have to let me make it up to you sometime! :D:D:wave::beer:

Tecate? There was beer involved? Hmm, I don't seem to remember beer. I remember some wicked skeeters, but the anejo really helped with that. :)

PM is a charming village. Stayed for a few days last April and staying again this April. Cabana's Puerto morelos is a charming spot. If you look through my trip report, you'll see pics. This year, we'll stay at Ojo De Agua, right on the beach, rustic but clean., $69.00/night. PM is only 15 minutes from the airport, so comute is short for those late night arrivals.

Seems to me there was a bit of dancing involved that night too:eek:

Back to the original subject...when we get back in March I'll check in here and give you my impressions of PM and Ojo de Agua.

My wife and I will be staying in Puerto Morelos on Friday (23rd) thru the 27th at Rancho Sak Ol. Definitely give the board some updates on the restaurants scene and accommodations.

Yes, please, great! Looking forward to more pictures and info. Sorry if PM interest is inappropriate here on the TI board, hope it's OK.

M Sackett, pics of the room interior (and bathroom, if possible), view, balcony, beachfront, would be great.

I'm interested to see how much ironshore there is up there. Looks like a lot in some areas, not so much in others, and since I'm such a beach purist, I want to find the "not so much" places. :)

I like PM! I have stopped by several times either before or after the airport ride. Stayed at Ojo de Agua last May for 1 night prior to departure. $60.00 total walkup rate. Like Badger said, less stress getting to the airport! I have some pics on CD and I'll dig them out later today.

I recommend Cafe Habanero highly. Great food and decent wine at a streetside bar. 2 blks off the beach and 1 1/2 north of the square. Great friday nite live entertainment!
I did not like Pelicanos restaurant on the square. Gale and I agreed, worst breakfast of all times in MX!

Things are a bit cheaper, souvineires, food, cigs etc!

We stayed in Puerto Morelos last year, at the new Ocean Coral/Turquesa (won't be going back there:eek:).

Beachreader, I have only been to the beach at the Tulum Ruins, so I can only imagine what the rest of Tulum beach areas are like. I can say that PM is not for beach purists. It is nicer than Playacar IMO, but sometimes the water appears murky when the winds are up. You also get more turtle grass and coral in the sand due to the reef. We have said that Xpu-ha is like powdered sugar and Puerto is like granulated sugar...if that makes sense:D

But you can walk for miles. We would walk everyday from the Ocean Coral to town almost everyday. We loved Puerto Morelos. We liked Habeneros, and the Mexican Pub. But we also did not like Pelicanos. Nice location, but that's it.
vivapuertomorelos is a great website for PM.
