If those who look at and enjoy this forum do not add to and reply to different topics I think the Spammers are going to take over. I was glad to see someone I guess Ginger :) deleted all the others that were starting to fill the forum.
The wife and I enjoyed 5 days in Tulum in June 06. And 10 days in PDC. This was our 2nd. trip to the area, we had a trip to Aruba in 4-03 and Maui in 9-05 but wanted to spend our 25th Aniv. on the Mayan Coast. I will post some more Pics. and hope some others can or will do the same. I enjoy seeing and reading about peoples trips to the Tulum area. We stayed 2 nights at Copal and 3 at Tierras del Sol. What a place. I will post pics and report later. We are planning another trip June 2-9, 07. Seems like a long ways off. :( But in the mean time we have a wonderful collection of photos and memories of the place.

For those who love this forum, lets keep it alive and well by posting and replying to the info. provided here and keep the SPAMMERS OUT:mad:  Thank You very much.

Thanks for starting this off, dcap. You're absolutely right...everyone needs to contribute! I realize it's easy to sit back and passively read others comments but this board (or any other) lives or dies by the content.

My wife and I discovered Tulum as most folks probably do...a one day visit to the ruins that then detoured to the beach and finally the ended with strolling the city streets. We're not big believers in the structured tour, so we hopped on an ADO bus and headed to Tulum. Of course, we went to the ruins but knew there was much more to the area than just this touristy spot. To borrow a line from "Doc Hollywood", we decided to "get off the interstate, Ben Stone" and began to explore other areas in town and on the beach. After that, we found no reason to return to Cancun or PDC, leaving them behind for the more charming Tulum and Sian Ka'an.

Our last visit was the end of June. While celebrating my birthday, we decided to head back for 8 days/7 nights to celebrate my wife's birthday this December. We'll be staying at Tita Tulum. For the first time, we'll also have a rental car for the entire stay so we're looking forward to exploring quite a bit.

By the way, our "if-I-ever-mysteriously-disappear-after-the-local-bank-has-been-robbed" spot is this little beach bar just north of El Pariso: :D

Oh...and if I'm not hanging at the bar spending my ill-gotten gains, then I'm in town eating lunch at El Pollo Bronco...

Let's hear from others!!!

I discovered Tulum in February '06 while on the Tulum and Beyond tour. The ruins were fine, but the lunch on the deserted beach was fantastic. The powder white sand, the relaxed atmosphere, the quiet, the awesome water, the quiet... did I mention the quiet? Oh, and the clothing optional choice is definitely a plus!

I decided then and there that the next time I return to PdC, I would spend 3 nights in Tulum just destressing. I'm hoping it will be this winter, but it's a wait and see game right now.

Add us to the peeps that discovered theTulum area on our Tulum and Beyond tour. A fantastic time and we loved the beaches so much that the next day we took the bus back down to do it ourselves. This coming February we plan on splitting up our vacation between Playa, Tulum and Akumal. A few pictures from our Tulum time from last February.

Thats exactly how we discovered Tulum in Dec. 2001,took the tour bus to the ruins, and after the tour grabbed a taxi to Ana y Jose, just picked it out of a list at the cafes & stores near the ruins told the driver take us there. We set a pick-up time for 4 hours later. Had lunch, swam, caught soom rays on the deserted beach south of there and walked about two miles, sure enough the taxi was there to pick us up. We have been hooked ever since. Cannot wait to get back.

*cough* No, I don't think I do. However, there was one naughty boy in our group who snapped a shot, while I took in the rays ;)

(for the record, he was very gentlemanly about the picture)

That dog above was so cool, but totally in it for the grub. I bought some actual dog food and was leading him back to my cabana to feed him and some other person put there hand out with food and he bailed on me. The dogs down there are malnurished and I think some real dog food is a good thing to pick up at the market if you think of it. They're all over the place.

Thanks to all who visit and post, nice to see there are many of us who really enjot this area. Keep those photos coming. Dave
