With the economy on the brink of recession and the country in the midst of two foreign wars, Barack Obama is considering appointing a cabinet of stars to steer America through potentially its worst crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s if he wins the presidency on November 4.

Glad to see NewsBot is a card-carrying Dem...just can't figure out how this is even closely related to anything Tulum-like.

So Obama is also giving us all a free trip to Tulum? Awesome! Is that before or after the 1 million electric cars he plans to build? And where does he find the time!

I would also like to know what the heck this article has in it about Tulum, but I'm not particularly willing to sift through it to find it.

James, can we please kill the Newsbot?

No!!!!!!! Pinky would be very sad if you killed Newsbot. You know I heard that they are going to meet up when she's in Mexico next May.....

PS, I don't think her husband knows, so don't say anything!:p:eek:

PSS, I think he's kind of cute too, but wouldn't want to rock Pinky's boat.........:boat:

the story Just Keep Livin with Matthew McConaughey doesn't have much to do with Tulum, either. The news feed criteria is Tulum, Mexico. More proof that there are many things I cannot understand or explain.

This (http://news.search.yahoo.com/search/news?p=tulum+mexico&ei=UTF-8) is the source of the Newsbot feeds.

So that's the source of it, that's cool, can we kill it?

Okay so I shouldn't open my mouth without looking at the source info, but I wonder if it catches advertising on pages that don't seem obviously Tulum-related.

People have something against newsbot in general, or just this particular story? I'm fine with ignoring the random non-Tulum story that gets through the filter. Doesn't seem like a big deal to me. But I could be persuaded otherwise. Maybe James, Minnie, or Gale could just delete the individual posts that don't seem on topic (which is fine if there aren't too many of them, but if there are a lot then it won't work too well.)

I'm definitely in favor of keeping politics out of this forum though. I want to like you all at the end of the day, and I take politic differences too seriously (and too personally).

Yup, I think it's the advertising. This is a newspaper story, and on the side it has links to their travel stories & other feature stories. One of those links is to Caribbean travel destinations.

Thanks for tracking that, Phyllis. That's just too thin a connection for me. It's not the political nature of this particular post, it's that it keeps posting stories that have nothing of interest or relevance to this board.

That, and right at the beginning of its life it posted like 10 stories in a row and that bugged me and I haven't forgiven it yet. :p

:wave:Hi, this is your roving paparazzi and there`s been a newsbot sighting! Found at the Serenidad Shardon Palapa in Punta Allen with Margo! Those close to the source say they looked really happy but attempts to confirm have been unsuccessful. All I have is this picture. Can this be true?

The newsbot is nucular powered and will surely outlive us all. I've changed the feed (Google now) and added a requirement that the content actually contain the word Tulum (I don't know why a news article from a Tulum Mexico queried feed wouldn't, but the conditional is now in there).

Serenity, :D:D Say it ain't so, Margo!

And thanks, James, hopefully that will help.

Actually, I posted that thanks before seeing that with the renewed instruction, Newsbot (the Punta Allien) has just posted 9 new topics. At least they have to do with the region, so I'll try to read some of them, but I hope he/she/it eases up a bit. I hope the board doesn't get taken over by Newsbot posts!

If we keep posting Newsbot won't have a reason...I think it's for when the board is SLOW. There have been days when there are no new posts.

I wish I had a trip announcement to make or something. Is that a good reason to go back? Because we have to furnish topics? LOL.

You guys are really cracking me up!! This is too funny. I will try and delete those items that have nothing to do with Mexico. Hopefully this won't be necessary, as James said, he fixed the filter. We'll just see how good it is.:)

I added a Chichen Itza feed as an experiment. All the posts go into one, easily avoidable forum, and it is a trivial task to add the Newsbot to your ignore list (http://tulum.info/profile.php?do=ignorelist).

Oh my, Pinky, I'm so sorry. I didn't think we'd get found out so soon. I was hoping to tell you myself by PM or better yet in person.

Do you think she'll ever forgive me? And she was my friend...........:o:o:o

He was just, just there, and so handsome and sweet. I couldn't help myself. :star:

:eek:And you guys were being so mean to him, he just really needed a friend and a safe harbor.

Not sure where this relationship is going.............but mmmmmmmmmm!:eat-drink:

All kidding aside, I have really enjoyed and appreciated Newsbots contributions to the board. I have read many of the articles and have found some great info. Being kind of remote, and an anti news media person in general, I don't get much opportunity to find out what is happening in my little world, and don't want to sift through all that i would have to sift through to find info. (I literally have not watched, read or listened to a national or state news cast in over 14 years on purpose). Even under George senior we got 3 strikes, you guys want to exicute Newsbot with only 2!!!!!!!!:star:

Thanks James, you know he thinks you're his father..........:o

Doesn't anyone else think he's cute?:star::sun::star:

I was just piling on! :D
I don't mind Mr. Bot...I even read some of his stuff. He's OK.
:twocents:I think most of us just don't want this site to end up with alot of political crap on it. I'm not so sure the presidential thread on play.info has been so good for that site either.:twocents:

I think I'll let you keep him all to yourself!!! ;)...sorry newsbot, I'm breaking up with you!!!

I wouldn't want my hubby to get jealous!!!

So does this mean you're not mad at me Pinky? :o:o:o

Thank goodness! You were my first real friend so am glad I didn't ruin that! :eat-drink:

Not sure what happened to Newsbot, he just disappeared into thin air.......and then was back on the board as if nothing had happened.................:dolphin:

Oh well..........

I tried to spice things up a bit........:o:cool:
