I want to rent a car at CUN airport, go to Tulum for three days, then go to Riviera Maya where I will not need the car. The only company that will allow me to rent a car at the airport and drop it off at my resort is Adocar. Has anyone ever used this company? Is it reputable?

Is there anything special about car insurance in Mexico?

I have had Continental rent a car drop me off at my resort and pick me up. I went to their rental office from the airport, they took me to ABR and then picked me up at ABR and returned me to Playa where I then rented the car for the rest of my trip.

You might want to just email them and see if they won't do something like that for you. All you can do is ask.

I've never heard of them, myself. But there are lots of car rental companies.

There's a ton of info out there about car rentals and car rental insurance -- go to the FAQ part of the forum and you'll find all the info there I think. Or do a search for car insurance and you'll have more reading than you want. Generally, I think we all get all of the insurance coverage. Some folks opt for their credit card insurance, and that can work if you have a high credit limit and are willing to put all the cost of an accident on your card & get reimbursed later. Basically you'll have to pay whatever charges are incurred from an accident up front before they'll let you leave the country - so most of us just get all the insurance so we don't have to worry about it.

We just booked a vw pointer station wagon with easyway for about $330 for a week with all insurance. Kind of steep but there will be four of us splitting it and I've used easyway once before and really liked them and they seem to have a great reputation with the folks on this site and LG. Like others have said, ask for Jesus, tell him you are paying cash and mention Locogringo and he'll give you at least a 10% discount. Good luck and happy motoring!
