We are planning a trip for late Nov/early December, and would like recommendations for a kid friendly place to stay. My husband and I are bringing our 2 year old, and new baby (not arrived yet, but will be 3 months by the time of the trip.) My best friend from SF is meeting us with her 8 month old. 3 adults, 3 children!

We saw a few places for rent in Tankah (sp?) but don't know if that is as nice an area as the southern section of Tulum. Many had kitchens which would work well with the kids.

I haven't been able to find many places that either have multiple-room villas or suites for us all to stay in though in Tulum. Any suggestions?

With the kids, we probably won't be crazy mobile, so it would be great to be somewhere with a fantastic beach, and a few yummy places to eat nearby.

Not sure if it is possible to find any babysitters down there as well? We'd probably just want help a few hours a day, and possibly a night or two so the adults could go for dinner.

Thanks in advance!

I think Tankah may be a better fit for your situation. The beaches are nice along with kayaking and snorkling. Soliman Bay is good too.
Tulum beaches are very nice, but kitchens are a rare find in that area. Eating establishments are going to be an issue in Tankah Bay.
May I suggest Akumal as it seems they will be able to fullfill all your needs. We love to stay at Vista Del Mar Condos and for $115 a night for two bedroom with full kitchen. $75 a night for a hotel room.Problem is the beach at Half Moon Bay is just ok. There is great snorkling. Akumal Bay has a great beach.
There are about 6 or so restaraunts in the Akumal area also.

jx2 is right: Soliman Bay or Tankah Tres would probably be better choices than Tulum proper, although neither presents a wealth of choices for walking-distance meals. (Soliman and Tankah are about 10 minutes north of Tulum by car.) A rental car is prety necessary in either location. In late June/July, my family, friends, and assorted kids -- age five, almost three, and just barely one -- had a wonderful time on Soliman Bay. Akumal would also be well worth looking into.
