Hey Gang,
We're heading down for eight days, seven nights starting December 7. This looks to be right at the tail end of high rates but before the dreaded "holiday" rates for most hotels. We've never stayed on the beach in Mexico but are looking forward to the seclusion and beauty of Tulum's great beaches.
We've been looking at Tita Tulum as a possibility. The cabanas are going for around $80-$100/night. Any other suggestions for alternatives we should look at that are in this price range?

Our favorite place to stay, and at $85.00 is great. Tierra Del Sol. Small resturant, the best beach, a little further south than Tita's. Check it out at...

we loved Cabanas Tulum, more rustic than some of the nicer cabana hotels, kinda' like a strip of motel on the beach. But EVERY room faces the sea and has a sea view and breeze, right ON the beach. We paid I think around $55 a night.

Thanks dcap and Ginger for the suggestions. After reviewing both hotels I realized they only had double beds. With a king-size Tempurpedic at home, we're a bit spoiled! :D Tita Tulum has king-size beds which puts them in the lead. Anyone know of other hotels with queen or king beds that they can recommend?

I wouldn't bet on that "King" being the same size as one at home. Even the "Queens" in Mexico are usually only the size of doubles.
They do only have doubles at Cabanas Tulum, but there are two beds. We just each choose a bed at sleeping time. ;) :D
We have a giant King at home too...but we manage. :)

So even if they "fudge" on the size, I'm guessing a "Mexican King" is still bigger than a "Mexican Double" or "Mexican Single"...right? The different cabanas at Tita Tulum offer different bed configurations (double, King, sofa bed, etc.) so I'm thinking there's some difference in size between the different types. The reviews on Tita Tulum across several travel websites seem very positive and the value seems decent. That said, I'm still open to any suggestions.

Oh yes, a Mexican King would still be bigger than a double. And I'm sure there are places where it IS actually a King, and Tita might be one of those places. I just meant to say that often they aren't the same size of 'big-ness' that we are used to back home.
Tita Tulum is quite nice...I posted some photos of it on here someplace.

Stay at Tita Tulum you will not go wrong, I have seen the room with the KIng and it is a nice size, I prefer room 4 its an upper unit with two beds and my wife and I share what they consider a double and have no problem ( we have a queen at home). Tita and her staff are wonderful, they are located in my opinion on the best beach on the Riviera Maya. The units are spotless and the restaurant excellent, I do not think you have to look anywhere else!

Thanks Petecat...I completely agree. We've reserved Cabana 7 (the one with the King) for seven nights. The reviews look really great too!
