I have heard good things about Akumal realty. Definately try to find a reference book about buying land in Mexico also. There are a lot of rules and regulations that I wouldnt have thought of.

I don't think the land in Tulum is titled yet, so watch for this. Not a drawback for some as some will buy then wait for title later, but I wouldn't want to buy un-titled land.

I've done a little digging around on this issue. Ejido land is still a complication in some parts of Tulum, most notably on the beach and out the road toward Coba. However, much of the land in the new Kukulkan Blvd area at the south end of downtown stretching toward the beach is actually titled and has been so for some time. It's an important issue to worry about, and something you would definitely want to address with a real estate agent and/or lawyer as well as the seller.
