Is it going to be too hot? We're staying in a beach cabana which has a ceiling fan, just wondering from everyone's experience here, is it very, very hot in August or is it a bearable kind of heat? Thanks so much for your input.

Depends what your tolerance for heat is. No doubt Tulum is hot in August...of course, so is Florida but I love it. I've been down there in July (similar weather) and didn't mind the heat BUT it was noticeable. Simply seek out shade and drink often and you'll be fine.

I haven't as yet traveled down in August, but I think more than too hot would be the high humidity. If that gets you down, you might want to try a different month.

We have lots of info contained in our forum and using a few of the tools available, I think you will find your perfect vacation.

We always travel in Aug - it is hot. But we find it to be much, much cooler than Dallas...so it isn't too bad for us. If you are from the northern states, you may have a tough time.

The best thing to have is a beachfront room with a ceiling fan - make sure the front windows can be opened. I have been comfortable with that situation - and so has my husband who is a/c addict.

We'll be there for 3 nights Aug 9-12, spending 4 nights in Cancun
and a day trip to Isla Mujeres. It's going to be our very first time in MX.
We are from No VA, suburb of WDC. The hottest temp we've experienced is July in Myrtle Beach, SC and June in the Virgin Islands. I'm sure my husband and I will be ok but I don't want to hear complaining and whining from the kids about how hot it is.

We are btw staying at Tita Tulum, do they have screened windows and do they open?

Choose your hotel carefully. Maybe go with Los Lirios which has 24/7 A/C.

If you don't want to do a place with A/C I would suggest something like Suenos Tulum which funnels air through the room very nicely. I stayed at Cabanas Tulum one night and sweated. The next night was Suenos and I was cool as a cucumber. The cost difference was great but you get what you pay for.

Yes and yes. What cabana are you in? Some are closer to the ocean and get a better breeze.

We're staying in Cabana 7, which I think is behind Cab 5 and below Cab 6.
Are you familiar with it?

Yes...several people (including myself) have stayed at Tita's. The cabanas are arranged in a "V" configuration. I was in Cabana 9 which is slightly further from the ocean than you'll be. That said, it was less than 50 steps from our front door to the water's edge. We had plenty of breeze but, as we stayed there in December, it wasn't critical. Still, I don't think you'll have any problems unless the breeze just stops (it's been known to happen but rarely). Tita Tulum is on a great stretch of beach - especially heading south - and has a pretty good restaurant. You'll have a great time!

The beds at Tita's are also on wheels (at least they were in our room). We actually turned our bed around to get the breeze a little better. But like Lee, we were a bit further back than you will be.

I think if you're used to the hot and humid mid-Atlantic summers, you'll be ok.

We were in Tulum early June last year - It was hot then. We stayed at parayso - They have ac. I love the idea of bungalows - but dont think I would be able to sleep!
