We'll be staying at Azulik in November, and we are planning to use email to stay in touch with our daughter back home.
Can anyone tell me where the closest internet cafes or other access sites are to Azulik?
Thanks,
Anthony

The Romance Cabana has an LAN connection for internet access. At Zahra next door, there is an internet cafe.

Gale,
We originally booked the Romance cabana, but weren't taking our old laptop on the trip with us anyway. We also changed to cabana #3 to be out closer to the water.
Do you have any info on the internet cafe at Zahra? Is there usually a computer available? How much do they charge? etc...
Thanks,
Anthony

I really intended to email home when I was in Tulum..but once I saw the water, and got a good case of beachitis, I just called instead, and didn't use their internet service. I am not sure if there is a charge or not..if there is, it is probably reasonable, internet cafe's in Tulum are very inexpensive to use.
I don't know much about Azulik, I have stayed at Copal..I was acutally suprized to see they had a cabana wired for service.

:) This is our first trip out of the USA, and it'll be our daughters first time home alone. So, we want to keep in contact as best as possible.
Because of the time zone differences, and the calling rates, email just seems to make more sense.

There is an internet cafe attached to the restaurant at Zahra, just a few minutes walk from Azulik. Can't remember the cost but it's pretty cheap.
By the way, you're going to love Azulik. I'm headed there myself for the third time July 5.

You will be going into town at night I imagine on a fairly regular basis and there are a ton of internet cafes up and down the main strip and they're all really really cheap. So, I would just leave the laptop behind. Thought about bringing one of mine in the past , but then figured it would be just another thing I would have to carry that wouldn't be needed enough for the effort.

Just an FYI, the internet cafe close to Zamas is no mas. Copal, Zahra and Azulik are adding wireless to their services, so I guess they didn't think it was necessary to keep the cafe open.
Now, would somebody explain the ins and outs of wireless to me..lol!
Newsletter from Eco-Tulum also spoke of larger in room safes for safe storage of laptops.
I don't wanna take my laptop to paradise, so when I need to email home, I will use one of the internet cafes in town.
Here's the info from the newletter
Electronic safes at Azulik guard valuables
Nature meets practicality once again at rustic Azulik, where wireless internet technology recently wowed guests in the barefoot luxury paradise.
Now all Azulik villas have new electronic safes, which operate with either a credit card (swipe the bar code, there is no charge to use the safe) or your own private PIN number. Safes are large enough to fit two laptops and more. Laze on the white powder sands with the security of knowing valuables are safe and sound in the villa.
Mega wireless
High speed internet expands at Copal and Zahra
Don't lose contact with the real world even while indulging in EcoTulum's barefoot paradise. High speed wireless internet signals now extend to the Cabanas Copal restaurant, lobby, spa reception and Zahra's restaurant as well as more than half their 22 accommodations. Surf's up!
