Headed down in two weeks and have already gotten alot of great info from this forum, thanks!
We will Staying in PDC at The Reef for a wedding for three days and then heading to copal for four days. The wife and I are looking to do a little cenote diving. Can anyone give me good recommendations for which dive shop to use. Also, which cenotes are the best for divng. I have read dos ojos is a great dive.
One other thing, we have all our own gear, but is it worth it to lug it all the way down there for two tanks of diving.
Thanks

Here is a shop recommended on the Playa Info board - you might want to scoot over there and search for this, as there are very few of us here that do dive, let alone dive cenotes.

I hope James checks in, as he has info on diving cenotes.

I've done a fair amount of diving in the region for the past 12 years and there are a ton of choices. I personally prefer the Cenote Dive Center in Tulum. It's centrally located and the DM's are very professional.
Choosing which cenotes to dive will really depend on what your level of training is (cave certified or not) and the type of formations you want to see. Dos Ojos, Taj Mahal, etc. are really nice though I'm partial to Las Calaveras and Anjelita (stinky hydrogen sulfide thermocline!!!!). There is a very strong cave diving community in the area with lots of GUE folks and DIR so finding a shop shouldn't be an issue - it will depend more on your diving style (though the GUE folks will tell you there is only ONE way to dive ;> ).
Make sure to ask around and make sure you're comfortable with the shop and their DM's.
Cheers,

Cenote Dive shop seemed to have good recommendations for scuba people; I was interested in snorkeling so didn't pay much attention.
We snorkeled Dos Ojos and saw the scuba lights down below. Wow.....scary but cool looking. I was glad to be snorkeling...

Trish...not too scary (or difficult for that matter as even I have mastered it) but definitely "equipment-intensive". As I'm hauling my gear many snorkelers comment on how lucky I am that I can go "down there and see everything up close". At the same time I'm thinking "wow...your snorkel and mask only weighs like a pound, right?" :)

I completely agree with the CDC recommend. I'd avoid Acuatic Tulum (at Zacil Kin) like the plague.
