We are going to book 8 days at Azulik in Feb. Where are the good breakfast restraunts in that area? Are they close?

Don't miss Zamas, great pizza's too!
Banana Pancakes with fruit, yogurt, and granola and I think it's called a Lemmy (much like a smoothie)

When we stay in Tulum we always eat breakfast where we're staying for the most part. We have wondered to Don Caffeto and El Paraiso and they were both pretty good...

Room service breakfast at Azulik is good, and not expensive.
Zama's is one of the best, and there's a buffet style breakfast at Maya Tulum every morning, although it's a bit pricey (but always good).

I've been staying at Copal and Azulik for many years. The restaurants at Copal and sister hotel Zahra, both of which serve Azulik, have very good breakfasts. As another member said, room service at Azulik is good. The food comes from Zahra or Copal restaurants and is only a bit more expensive with room service than at the restaurants.
Zamas has great food all day long and is only a few minutes walk from Azulik. And if you want to go into town, Don Cafeto has good breakfasts as well as lunch and dinner.
Enjoy! If you want any tips or have any questions about Azulik, write me at Kensterfly at yahoo dot com. I'm headed to Azulik July 5!!

OK - so I'm late to the thread. Tour de France keeping me busy.
I agree completely with Uno Mas, Zamas has fantastic breakfast. I had the fruit pancakes. First time I've had pancakes and needed no syrup, the fruit and yogurt do the trick.
dcap - you'll get the same menu as Copal down at Zahra (sister hotel) but have double the portions, better service, and a better view. I particularly enjoy the larger coff-ay cups as Zahra. firecop, you'll be right next to Zahra, but walk the extra steps down to Zamas for a much better choice.
And if you want to travel down the beach road a ways, we'll be staying next time at Tita Tulum, and have already had Tita's breakfasts. After drinking the box juices at Copal and Zahra, you'll really love the fresh squeezed juices down at Tita's.

If you're in town in the morning, stop by Pan de Carmen for great fresh pastries. It's on the west side of 307 about halfway through town, although the aroma alone should help you find it just fine.

Room service on your deck overlooking the sea is a real treat. And I second the suggestions for Zahra's and Zamas. But I also suggest the new Trecelunas, just across the street and a wee bit north of Zahra. Trecelunas opened in February. Very good breakfasts and reasonable prices. Tell Amanda, who runs the place, that Ken in Houston says HI!

In addition to being a wonderful place for dinner, Posada Margherita also serves a great breakfast. It's a bit pricey, but there's a nice selection of dishes, the fruit is fresh, the ambience is relaxed, and the coffee is outstanding -- the best we had in Tulum. We had breakfast there five times in a week's stay down the beach at Retiro Maya. It's also a good time to make reservations for dinner without making a separate trip.

Are the restaurants in close proximity to Azulik? If not, are they within walking disrance?

We stayed at Copal, which is right next door to Azulik, and we walked many times down the beach road and stopped at restaurants. Zamas is definitely the closest (OK, Zahra is closer but not as good). South of Zamas you'll be taking a little walk to hit Posada, Tita Tulum, and others. If you are doing this is the evening, it might be easier to hop a cab at the stop right in front of Zahra. But in daylight hours we walked the entire beach.

Wow, was that real maple syrup in a little container I saw? That's a rarity in Mexico (or any Caribbean place I've been to)!
