I will be visiting Azulik in Feb or Mar of 2007. We're leaning toward requesting Villa # 3 as it is directly on the Copal beach. This is important, as my partner is sunburn-phobic, so he needs shade. So, what I'm looking for is the best Azulik villa where he can sit on the deck while I'm in the sand and sea - but where we're still in eye- and ear-shot of one another.

I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone who stayed in Villa # 1 ("Romance"). I've heard it's a bit more private, but I haven't found any photos - so I don't really know where it is in relation to the beach.

Needless to say, I'll be grateful for any input from other members. Thanks!

If you get one of the villas on the south end you'll be right on the beach in front of Zahra - Azulik's sister resort. There are a couple of covered hanging beds so you could both be right on the beach too.

The villas on the north end near Copal are on a cliff - the beach is 50 yds away.

Copal has a couple of hanging beds as well, and the beach is promoted as clothing optional.

I would suggest number 12, which is a sea view, at the end of the line so it overlooks the sea AND the beach. Plus, #12 has direct access from the deck down to the sandy beach. (this beach is on the south side of Azulik. Copal beach is on the north side.) All the villas at Azulik have covered decks so your partner can relax in the shade while you enjoy the beach and the sea.
A nice alternative would be Villa number 15, which sits directly over the beach so you could be just steps away and within earshot.
Number 1 and 2 are the original units. They offer a little more privacy due to being surrounded by lush vegetation, though their outdoor tubs are perched on the edge of the cliff overlooking the sea. Number one would allow Partner to walk out to the edge to see you on Copal's beach but it would not be a shady spot to sit and watch you.
Number three is a fair distance from the Copal beach.
Regardless of which Villa you're in, you're going to love it!
