View Full Version : Who's Who?

OK, we all know there are a couple of discussion boards that a lot of us use to talk about our travels. But some of us are one person there and another person here. I'm kimba everywhere that I can be, unless the name is already taken by a doppelganger.
Who are you here and who are you 'over there'? I like knowing, even if I don't know you in person, who I'm talking to. I'd hate to keep repeating myself to the same person over and over.

Excellent question................I am HhowieE, here, there, there, there and there.
However, I have started signing off with the real name...............
........Ron, cause it is easier when meeting face to face.
Sooooo many boards, when can I meet everyone face to face?
Only way is to move I guess, that way I will always be in one place when Y'all come to visit.
Saludos,
Ron

Interesting story here...I used to play games of trivia on an application called Paltalk. We decided to have a big get together in Toronto...drinks, dinner, great weekend of fun with online friends. The only problem...no one ever exchanged real names...so one of the guys that lives in Ontario is picking us all up at the airport. It was incredibly funny to hear over the loudspeaker "Number1StarsFan" to the white courtesy phone please, Number1StarsFan" or "El Wapo to the courtesy phone, El Wapo". LMAO! I crack up thinking about it today!

That is funny Doug! Maybe you should try that at Mezzanine! :D
I'm pb2131 over on LG. So many people couldn't figure out if I was a guy or a girl that I decided to just use my first name over here. It really shouldn't matter too much (isn't that the beauty of the internet?) but I figured it might be easier. Plus, no one really knows what the 2131 is for. Except for a select few that have figured it out, after a hint or two (you know who you are!). So PhyllisB it is. I'd change it over on LG, but I'm too lazy. :D

I got in the habit of calling people by their email logins when I started working in tech in '95. And especially when I went to work for an medium sized ISP.
So, HhowieE, you may be Ron, but if I ever meet you, I won't know who you are unless you introduce yourself as HhowieE!
And the same with DougSR!
And anyone else I know from the boards!

On almost all the boards I am Minniemex.

Let me say I found it very "ego friendly" when people would shorten my old nickname to "Number1". Especially when we met in person Toronto. But now I love that people call me by my real name. :)

Ok, long long ago I became Gale in KY on Bill's board and on here. When I signed up with LG, I wanted something different..thus Mayajerney was born. Same person, different name..but everyone should recognize my sparking personality, right? ;)
Shut up Lee!;):beerchug:

Being a techie, and by definition having no artistic/creative ability (at least that's what I hear) austxdan not only names me - but gives my locale as well. So that's the handle here, there, active.com, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I think if I decide to ever get more detailed I could use "austxdan + SocialSecurity# + TX Drivers License # + BankAcct #". That's shouldn't pose any problems, would it?

Dan, I think if you include where you hide the spare key while in Tulum you'll be good to go.

I actually have never been on any other forum, I am totally new to this.... Now I see why, It's addicting!
I've gone over to Locogringo and just get overwhelmed with all the stuff that I'm not that interested in....someone told me they've made a Tulum section, so I may check it out again...
I worked at a stereo store in the early 80's and we had a computer which was a new thing...I still call this one guy that I worked with and still know CY8 that was his password to log on.
BTW Beachwolverine and his wife stopped in for a beer today...that's how he introduced himself!:beerchug:

someone told me they've made a Tulum section,
Hey Margo..lol..doncha know that imitation is the highest form of flattery?:D
The LG Tulum board is getting minimum action at best. It actually doesn't suprize me, most LG'ers are just not ready for the wonder of the rustic experience..or the lack of services that we find to be a big part of the charm of Tulum.
I have met some wonderful friends on the LG board, but you are right when you say that it can be overwhelming. I like a board that stays on topic when a question is asked..at least until it's answered. I like that we very rarely "hijack" threads here..it can be really difficult to answer an op's question when you have 50 or so posts in between to wade thru. It can wear a body out!
TI has always been my favorite, and always will be..because we have all found out the secret..you can be pleasant and helpful and it's a good thing!
I hope to make it down your way..no...I AM going to make it down your way in October!

Gale, Maya, whoever you are....:) I hear you about LocoGringo. I've been on there forever (well, since 1999). I about get worn out sometimes wading though the digressions. I don't want to slag on it, because I too have met several people I gladly call my friends through that board. But I like this here joint. Akumal has never done it for me -- a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there -- and I have left instructions for loved ones to brain me if I ever say "The Roo."

Hey now..have you not noticed I am trying to avoid smilies..I started seeing them in my sleep...so I am trying to quit..LOLOL!
Margo..I really want to come down and spend a week there in Oct or November..The husband wants to do some fishing and I know he will love the place..so we WILL be there..and if he backs out on me yet again, I WILL be there..perhaps with a gal friend..again. LOL.
I tell ya though, when you guys talk to Maya..being Flya..heehee..I tend to want to respond..having two identities can be very confusing..LOL

Gale, John & Margo.....you nailed it about Akumal and the other board. I was on "Kays" board before it was LG and there have been so many changes. It now has a different vibe and I hope that never reaches us here on TI. Everyone is so nice here and don't seem to play the "post anything to raise my numbers" game, that just clutters up a board. That being said, I have made several life long friends and traveled with my LG chicas many times, and I still have my memories of how it used to be.

Dale here....Dale there....well, that's at the Playa.info forum. When I joined there, I was early. I've been here a long time too, but I don't post very often. I was the lucky 13th to sign up over there. James has registered and so had Anna, so I thought ...uh...OK.....how about Dale? Pretty boring. If I had thought about it I might have come up with something a little more interesting. On the Abaco board, (Bahamas, that is) I am Abacodabra.
