It was great to get back to Tulum, we just love it. We stayed at Tita Tulum, it was outstanding, we were in room #4 one of two upper rooms on the property. It was spotless airy and plenty large, lovely balconey facing the ocean. The staff was outstanding, the houskeeper was a wonderful person. I gave her a tip on our first morning and everyday she would go up to clean our room when she saw we were having breakfast, and upon our return she gave my wife lessons on how to make all kinds of animals out of the towels to decorate our bed, form owls to swans and turtles and even an elephant!
Now to the beach, it was amazing as usual, we took our two hour walk every morning and our three hour walk all afternoon, if any one was there between 4/18 and 4/ 25 and noticed us everyday on our walk, yes we were the couple with the women who had a cowboy hat that matched her bottom everyday.
Dinners, we ate at La Nave, Tita Tulum, Posada Margherita(twice), La Vita e Bella, Mezzanine and Don Cafeto, all were excellent, Posada has tremendous fish dishes along with their pasta and an excellent included with dinner appetizer platter. Mezzanine was a blast as we went on Friday night and stayed for their dance party(someone on this board mentioned this and I listened) it was great as we have two friends who are female in Tulum and they joined us, so I was the envy of all dancing with them and my gorgeous wife until 2:30am I did have quite a few youngmen cut in though and get a chance to dance with them, I think it was when the girls did some dancing to a pole that attracted a little crowd of dance partners. It was one of our best trips ever.
NOW THE CHANGES, to start with Boca Pila Road is now all paved, this causes a danger at night as the cabs drive much faster and the lighting is terrible, all the people walking the road are in more danger than in the past, also 307 the widening is taking place already and I understand it will continue to Tulum Pueblo, we also were told the airport has been approved last week for the Tulum area. We also noticed on our beach walks alot of realtor signs for Re-Max which now has an office in the shopping area of San Fransisco Market. I guess change was inevidable but I think in a few years we may be looking for what Tulum once was.
PLAYA DEL CARMEN, we stayed at Las Palmas, gorgeous condo has everything in ti tht you can think of, but the roof top pool is the best, we spent the mornings walking the beach at Playa from Mamitas way north and back, had linch and than spent afternoons at the pool, we shared it two times with two other couples otherwise we had it all to ourselves most of the time. We stopped and visited Cheryl and Tony at Luna Blue across the street they rceommende Babes to us for dinner and it was very good we really enjoyed the dinner, would love to stay at Luna Blue next time if I can pry my wife away from Las Palmas and the pool, we also enjoyed our 11pm dips with a bottle of wine. We ate lunch twice just down Norte 26th just before the beach on the right side is a small place called La Fragata, eight outside tables on the sidewalk, the women has a lunch menu that is outstanding, six dollar fish platters seven with a beer, ceviche, sandwiches( she packed us a huge prosciutto, cheese, avacado onions and tomatoe sandwich for our plane ride for 4 dollars) and fabulous breakfasts for three dollars and she is a sweetheart, it is only open for dinner on Fridays.
All and All this was one of the greatest trips ever to Mexico.
