Okay all you Tulum experts, I need a little advice on a beach area to go to. Last year while my wife and I were in Playa, we rented a car for a day and drove to Tulum for a nice clothing optional beach day. We never really found a good area to go to. The type of area we are looking for doesn't really need to be a deserted section of the beach, just an area that we know nude sunbathing will be permitted, maybe with a few others around. Were will a good area be, where we can park the car and feel comfortable leaving it there for a day. Also, is there an area that would also have a beach bar of some type and maybe a place that serves food for lunch. Any advice, along with some directions to it from Playa, would be very helpful. Thanks.

Have you read the post from Anthony a little further down the board? It's titled, "Language, Lodging, Nudity and Other Questions." There may be some hints for you on that discussion thread. Also, check out the Tulum map at the bill-in-tulsa dot come site. He has a great map of the coastline along Tulum that includes all the cabanas and places to stay, along with the Tulum pueblo downtown map. Good luck. You're heading back to heaven.:)

We just returned and spent the better part of two weeks there, naked.
Just make sure you take water shoes, because of hidden rocks just offshore.

It will be a mix of of nude, topless, and textile sunbathers, adults, kids, honeymooners, seniors, singles, straights, gays, lesbians, but no one cares. If you get there early and get nude, people who arrive will see nude people and realize it's okay, and there will be more nude people at the end of the day. I'll be posting further details about our experience on the Copal page of Travel Advisor in the next couple of days.

You might want to email Copal and ask if there's a charge to park in their lot. If not, you might want to patronize their restaurant and/or beach bar to show your support. Use of the beach itself is free, but I'm not sure where else to suggest you park.

To get to Copal, take 307 to Tulum, turn left at the light just past the Pemex station, before you enter downtown. Follow that road until you reach a T intersection. Turn right, and Cabanas Copal will be about a 1/2 mile or so on your left.

I've never had a problem parking at Copal, very relaxed place. There's a bar on the beach, just spend a little money to show your appreciation.
