Hi all....I just joined this site & looks to be very helpful and certainly will help with my descision for our next trip to Mexico.
We have been back for 3 weeks and I can't wait to return.
I have of course, caught the :ant: bug and I'm in the first stages of finding a more laid back place for our next trip (stayed at ABR). So I will be reading all the info I find on this site to help make my decision for our return trip!
Tulum or bust!

Thanks to you all, for the welcome.
We really did enjoy ABR and are quite excited to find a laid back area to come back and visit.
We, meaning me booked in March not remembering to factor in for Spring Break. The beach was quite full and having to get up prior to the 5:45 hour to insure a lounger under the shade got a little old. But the things we do to enjoy a vacation :beerchug:. Just being on a beach it is worth it.
We really enjoyed the ABR inclusive.
We stayed in Building 5 third floor. Centrally located in the middle of the property overlooking the pool. Great for people watching. Can be alittle loud during the day with the animation staff entertaining the guests at various times. So if you are into the siesta's during the day, it won't be very quiet. Same holds true for the evening time, so if you are one to retire early like us you will hear the evening show.
There beds were really hard for us and don't leave anything fruity in the room it attracts the lil bugs similiar to our fruit flies here. After that first mistake we just put the glass outside our door to our room. The water daily on the 3rd floor would always fluctuate between warm, cold to hot at any given time. Only once, we had no water for our showers. Just waited a bit and then we did.
One of the biggest drawbacks for us is, during the eating hours at the buffet and snack bar. That’s when the “rude” people come out. If you leave a comfortable space between yourself and the one in front, they take that as their space and step right in
All in all we would definately return, but not during spring break.
So now I am in the midst of looking at Tulum as a more comfortable, less people option.
Something beachfront and not big. I am talking 3-15 units. Clean, comfortable beds (a pool is not necessary), electricity, private bathroom, balcony would be nice. Snorkeling right out front, sandy beach.....and the most important.....food really close by whether it be restaurant or a store. We will not be renting a car.
Planning for March 2009.
What is typical weather like?
ABR was really, really windy for us in March, slight breeze's I like but not sand blasting.
I am new here so if these questions have been answered already I have not had the time to look thru the entire site. So please pardon me for duplicating an questions that might have already been answered previously.

Akumal Beach Resort. It's an AI in Akumal but has many many fans on the LG board. Seems like a nice, low-key kind of AI and right on the bay.

March usually is very windy and sandblasting is probable. It should be low 80's, but cooler at night, so bring a light jacket. It's not rainy season, so you should see a lot of sun...way more that I do here at that time of year!
