I just posted (finally) my trip report for Hemingway's. It's really just a hotel review; I'm so wordy I figured I'd save all the other places I looked at for another post. It's posted at Loco Gringo, here: http://www.locogringo.com/forums/tm.asp?m=244952.

Ginger, is it any easier to post reports with pictures at the Playa board? I was going crazy with all the re-sizing, uploading one at a time, then using 'image' and pasting in that way. What a freaking hassle.

Next time I might just do the trip report in text and post a link to a Shutterfly album or something, but it's so nice to have the pictures in context.

Anyway, it's there, hope it's helpful.

At Playa.info, posting the report can be easy. You just have to link to the photos at shutterfly - or wherever you keep them online - using the image tool in the toolbar.

However, on this board there is still a 4 image cap. I'm going to speak to James about that, actually.

Thanks. Maybe I'll try that, since I can upload a lot more pics to Shutterfly at once. I guess I'll still need to re-size them, though, since mine are pretty high-res.

Great report, what a cool place, it seems a bit on the expensive side, did you find the rooms all along the beach were near this price?

There are places much cheaper in the area, but anything I saw for less than $100 was pretty basic. Cabanas Tulum is real cheap, like $60-80 a night, but the rooms have no character or charm that I could see. For my first trip down there I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be dealing with a lot of bugs or unclean bathrooms or anything like that, so I chose a place in the mid-upper range. Now that I've seen some of the other places and have heard what people say, I wouldn't be afraid to recommend someplace like Cabanas Tulum, but I still like a bit of charm for myself.

So it depends on what you're looking for. The area has a wide variety of prices.

Oh, and remember that Hemingway includes tax (12%) and breakfast including eggs in their rates. Some places that might seem cheaper don't include those. Just something to be aware of.
