Welcome Paul and Diane. I too have visited Playa several times over the past 5 -6 years. I have only actually stayed in PDC 1 time and my wife and I loved it. But you are right, it does seem to get bigger each year. I have never been to Tulum. I've been to the Tulum ruins site, but never to the town of Tulum or any hotels there. I think I'd like to spend at least a night or two in Tulum on my next trip so I can get a feel for it as compared to Playa.

We have been to the ruins also, stopped for diner in town it seem like a very slow pace, we plan to stay there for a few days soon. We plan on renting a car on line from Thrifty and picking it up at Cancun airport, the driving to Tulum, we have not decided where to stay, Diane says they have to have electricity and hot water, and I want to be right on the beach, this seems like it should be possible. In playa we liked The Pelicano due to its location. so hopefully from this site we can figure out what place to stay.

I am a new visitor to this site as well. Hello to all. I have stayed in PDC at the Shangri La a couple of years ago and visited the Tulum ruins at that time. Last year spent a week on the island of Holbox. It was great. I hope to get more info on Tulum and visit there in the near future. Any and all info I stumble across is great.
